Best time to visit #Ajanta ... that greenery, flow of Waghora and this awesome viewpoint and that trek down unforgettable. 6-yrs ... wish to make another trip soon
#Waghora makes its way ... #Ajanta
However many book covers, pamphlets one might have seen him in, the temptation to click doesn't stop #Ajanta
Presume DSLR did make a difference ... 1996, an aim and shoot Yashica wasn't capable le.of capturing this. Maybe an Ipone camera does now, donno #Ajanta
Lighting inside the caves is a challenge not just to shoot, but even see. #Ajanta
Just remember vaguely ... At the Colombo museum they had recreated the famous Sigiriya murals, since in pouring rain I had no chance to climb, some solace seeing those recreations. Wonder why can't we create a complete #Ajanta museum and bring a complete cave 1 & 2 recreation

Down the memory lane ...
Holding the vinyl in hand, playing it on a recorder which was also fhe same blue as this cover ... feels sad though with age, that we let go off the LPs. I think the virutham "veyiruthuli bangan" was in this recording. One day visiting Thenkasi, I noticed the verse pasted near... ImageImage
The Navagraha sannidhi "amma indha virutham Mani Iyer paaduvare" as at that time I didn't know Kolaru Thirupathigam. I stood there and committed to memory the lines. Later an aunt, great fan of MMI "Karaharapriya, Pakkala nilapadi kettadhillaya" and gave the cassette ...

Convenient no to say VP Singh govt. What kind of a coalition was it and lasted for how long? No Rajiv Gandhi, Farook Abdullah, no Mufty Syed. They moved every machinery possible to the valley and pandits is it. Where are all those who were the big Kashmir reporters of that time?
When you befriend Abdullahs and take orders from Hurriyat what neutrality then, and what questioning the cry of Pandits today. Even then the write ups were catheter then than what they transformed to be later ... What happened? You can't see the elite order disturbed?
You may well try to read up archival material on what happened in 1984-89, 1989-91. One of the most turbulent phases the Republic faced. Mandir and Rath Yatra is in memory right, but not Mandal, not the hotch-potch NF, not the legacy of various accords and the violence?

What I haven't talked about since my friend is alive I will do now since there is a lady Kashmiri journalist asking if was even max was that genocide?
Leaving aside the debate over terminologies if it was a genocide or ethnic cleansing or whatever ... How many non-Kashmiri Muslims could go to the valley to report from there. She went to Kashmir as a reporter, she had dropped her surname, stopped talking Kashmiri
Wouldn't wear a bindi & in the years she spent reporting from Srinagar she hid her Kashmiri Pandit identity. She would say no one who is not approved by hurriyat can be a reporter in the valley. She was 1 & another TV channel at that time had a sardar reporter, only 2 exceptions

I am not a film critic so I refrained from writing anything on the lines of a review about #TheKashmirFiles ... that does not mean I do not have any reaction or analysis to share. Here are a few ... there are in your face assertions, visualizations. Sorry, if you talk craft ...
Lead character Pushkar Nath Pandit played by Anupam Kher, the painted face of Shiva, preparing for the Shiv ratri drama ... don't like it, take a walk. Shiv ratri is one of the most important festival. What the genocide and exodus has done is to deny Kashmiri Saivism its roots
#TheKashmirFiles has indeed shown directly, without soft peddling the cleansing of valley of its Hindu past with the Anupam Kher playing Shiva as the opening scenes take us to the days of turbulence in the valley.

Came to Kanchi first time since pandemic hit. Rushed to Varadar koil soon and first stop as usual at Thayar sannidhi. I was so emotional, was in tears. But, aghast that while devotees aren't allowed inside the sannidhi the inner one two guys with phone and camera were shooting
There 1 bhattar was standing with paper in hand & reading potri, potri, potri ... I controlled my anger. This is what they are capable of. A half baked translation and drama over archanai. In what way is that some superior achievement to the Vaishnava community's recital of 4000
So go around arm twisting some poor priests to recite something in Tamil which neither the devotees want nor agama prescribes and take videos and propagate that Varadar has accepted Tamil. Varadar is called a vallal, because he gave away his devotees for the cause of samparadaya
