Cole here, as many of you know I am disabled. I have a hole in my spine and a chronic pain disease. For 4 out of 5 times I have attended #SDCC I have slept in #HallHLine on a air mattress. The first year I slept on the ground and almost went to hospital from the pain it caused.
Every year I come to @Comic_Con I follow every single rule, i help others, i respect staff, I volunteer and do everything right. Last night I slept in line on a air mattress with no issues. Tonight at 2:30am as we settled camp I was told we cant use the mattress.
After spending the evening screwing over the other disabled attendees who are camping in the disabled line they have willfully chosen to take away what small comfort we have in this experience by villanizing an air mattress.
I tried to explain my disability but was met with blustering, excuses of policy and a downright lack of empathy.
My illnesses have taken so much from me and the one concession i need to do something I love has been taken away over night. Now its too late to go back to hotel. Too dangerous to try to sleep on the ground.
So now I am left sitting on concrete crying from sheer frustration and more upset then I should be during one of the events that make me happiest.
