THREAD
1 - Trump supporters validate who they are by "their beliefs." How easy and convenient! If you say you believe something and lots of others say they believe it too, that makes it real (?) Belief is emotional, requiring minimal thought. And who can tell you what to believe?
2 - Think about it - why work so hard to discern information and knowledge when it's simpler to seek validation for "feelings"? And it's so easy to broaden that to false narratives. "I don't believe in vaccines or masks" equivocates to "I don't believe in science or its experts."
3 - Once you adopt a belief system not anchored in truth, and you assign more importance to the belief than you do to fact, it becomes easy to do it again. And AGAIN. Before you know it, you're addicted to the validation you get from whatever media source confirms your beliefs!
4 - That media source you're addicted to is careful. Never stirs up cognitive dissonance. Never puts forth debate. You feel safe there. Soon - you feel UNsafe anywhere else. You're in an echo chamber now. Truth is skewed, and little penetrates. Congratulations, you're in a cult!
5 - Elevating the importance of one's beliefs above science, evidence, and expertise is a cornerstone of Trumpism. (It's a pretty natural fit for religion, too.) It's how the GOP emotionalized the electorate, with help from enablers and amplifiers. It's become a full-on apparatus
6 - The sources pelting Americans with propaganda are plentiful. It's Fox. Talk radio. Right wing podcasts. It's performative elected officials. Social media platforms. Foreign actors, like Putin. And it's spread, like a plague, to tens of millions of our most susceptible.
7 - The midterms will decide the fate of American democracy. For democracy to prevail, enough TRUTH must prevail. This IS the bottom line. Remember, not all our citizens are political creatures. Not all Republicans are Trump supporters. Math says: We don't have to flip that many.
8 - The Jan 6th Committee has done a masterful job. Has it penetrated the deep MAGA universe? Maybe not, but who cares? It's converted plenty along the fringes, and it's even led Murdoch-owned pubs to denounce Trump. Again - winning elections is about resolve, and also math.
9 - We're making a film called #UNTRUTH. It will make sense out of where we are and why we're here. It's a behavioral perspective we don't EVER get in the media. It will speak truth to ANYONE who isn't fully entranced. It will arm us and help flip moderates. That's smart math!
10 - The film WILL be released before the midterms. It's an independent film featuring psychologists and pundits, some of which you know well. We did this in 2020 with #UNFIT about Trump. Now in 2020, it's called #UNTRUTH about TrumpISM - the TRUE foe. It CAN make a difference.
11 - Remember: The GOP has NO PLATFORM! They only want power. To rule. To change the system. To make it Minority Rule, now and forever. We must be smart and focused. Truth must prevail. We're all in this together.
Here's a clip ---
12 - Here's the debut of a clip from #UNTRUTH. It's an excerpt from a segment in the film called FAKE NEWS. You'll recognize some of the interviewees. More on the film and how we propose to get it widely seen, especially in swing states - soon.

Mark Pomerantz is the decorated former NY prosecutor who came out of retirement to help oversee the Trump prosecution in NY who resigned from frustration with DA Alvin Bragg, believing he had the goods to indict Trump. He finally spoke openly on it on a Columbia U podcast. (more)
Pomerantz said he and the rest of the team were confident they had enough evidence to indict Trump. He said there were challenges in fitting Trump's morally reprehensible behavior into the definition of certain crimes, per NY Penal Law. (more)
“It was a case that should have been brought. I’m asking you to accept for the moment that I believe that Donald Trump, in fact, was guilty and that there was sufficient evidence as a matter of law to have sustained a guilty verdict if we went forward,” Pomerantz said. (more)
Trump fired ethical inspector generals and replaced them with his stooges, one of whom was this man, Joseph Cuffari who neglected to tell anyone about the deleted SS texts.
Merrick Garland (from C-SPAN): "There is tremendous speculation as to what the Justice Dept is doing, and what the Justice Dept is NOT doing. And there will continue to be that speculation, because ... we do not do our investigations in public." (more)
Merrick Garland continued: "This is the most wide-ranging investigation and the most important investigation that the Justice Dept has ever entered into... this effort to upend a legitimate election ... cuts at the fundamentals of American democracy. We have to get this right."
Tony Ornato probably played a role in the coup, destroyed evidence, lied to cover it up, and yet, still serves as assistant director of the USSS.
Is there any crime, any corrupt act, a Trumper can commit that would cause Biden to fire them?
We can’t fairly blame Biden for Manchin’s sabotage or inflation but this is 100% under his control. 100%.
David Gergen advised Bill Clinton: “No one will take you seriously until you start firing some people.”
Joe, start firing!
We have a “deep state” problem. As always, Republicans are doing what they accuse Democrats of.
Trump appointed Secret Service spokesman, Anthony Guglielmi, said the agency did not maliciously delete text messages following a request from the IG.
He’s LYING…
Just for fun, let’s imagine what might be in those missing texts…
“I love the smell of insurrection in the morning. Let Trump be Trump.”
“Do not give that maniac the wheel. That’s an order.”
