.@StanChartKE partnered with @iBizAfrica- Strathmore University to shortlist 10 start- ups for the Women in tech #StanChartWomenInTech program. The Program targets women led start-ups that are looking to scale up their business through technology. - @HapaKenya
#StanChartWomeninTech (WiT) support female-led entrepreneurial teams with business management training, mentoring and seed funding. This year’s top 10 teams were selected from a pool of over 350 start-ups that had applied for the program.
The entrepreneurs will go through 12 weeks of mentorship @iBizAfrica where they will be offered expert training in the areas of business idea conceptualization, strategy formulation and marketing which is key in moving the businesses from incubation to sustainable ventures.
Since its inception the Women in tech program has attracted over 1,800 applicants, trained over 40 entrepreneurs and funded 20 women-led startups from the through partnership with @StanChartKE.
#StanChartWomenInTech program seeks to further educate, mentor, coach and fund more African female entrepreneurs and innovators whilst also providing women-led startups with practical support to grow and develop their businesses beyond East Africa.
The enterprises were shortlisted based on:

Demonstrated capacity to execute
Clearly defined roles
Balanced skill set (team lead, business devt, product development, marketing)
Leveraging tech
Availability of Market opportunity
Potential socioeconomic impact in Kenya

As families of the 35 people who died after their bus crashed into the notorious River Nithi come to terms with the loss of their loved ones, concern is shifting to the lack of implementation of rules that would have made PSVs safer in case of an accident. - @NationAfrica
The @Modern_Coast bus that was headed to Mombasa from Meru was almost torn into two on impact, after the driver lost control of the vehicle, which swerved off the bridge.
While it’s still too early to say what the cause of the accident was or whether the near disintegration of the vehicle’s body should be of concern, a look at recent accidents involving long distance PSVs shows a similar trend.

The battle for the control of the multibillion-shilling @SportPesa brand has taken another twist, after city tycoon Paul Ndung’u filed more supplementary affidavits to @jsckenya - @NationAfrica
This time round, Paul Ndung'u is alleging that somebody at @Kenyajudiciary was involved in “mischievous backdating of an application with an intention to concoct reasons” that were used to determine a case.
Mr Ndung’u has already filed a petition before @jsckenya seeking the removal of the Mombasa-based Court of Appeal Judge Pauline Nyamweya over her handling of the @SportPesa case when she served at the High Court.
