Keke Palmer responded to a viral tweet, which asserted that a perceived difference in the ‘mainstream popularity’ of Palmer vs. Zendaya ‘may be one of the clearest examples of how colorism plays out in Hollywood.’
Palmer, who has a leading role alongside Daniel Kaluuya and Steven Yeun in Jordan Peele’s new film, ‘Nope’—currently the #1 film at the box office—implicitly referenced the tweet in her own July 24 post.
Palmer wrote: 'A great example of colorism is to believe I can be compared to anyone. I’m the youngest talk show host ever. The first Black woman to star in her own show on Nickelodeon, & the youngest & first Black Cinderella on broadway. I’m an incomparable talent.'
'Baby, THIS, is Keke Palmer,’ Palmer added. 'I’ve been a leading lady since I was 11 years old. I have over 100+ credits, and currently starring in an original screenplay that’s the number one film at the box office #NOPE.'
'I’ve had a blessed career thus far, I couldn’t ask for more but God continues to surprise me.'

‘Full Frontal with Samantha Bee’ will not be returning to TBS for another season this fall, according to a statement from Bee's representatives.
The cable network said that canceling the weekly late-night show is part of its ‘new programming strategy’ and thanked the host and everyone involved ‘for their groundbreaking work.’
After a record-breaking 12 years as a ‘Daily Show’ correspondent, Bee left Comedy Central for TBS to launch ‘Full Frontal’ in 2016. The show ran for 7 seasons and made Bee one of only a handful of women in history to permanently host a late-night talk show.

Tesla made a deal with the Mexican state of Nuevo León to get its own express lane at the U.S.-Mexico border. According to Bloomberg, Nuevo León is known for being one of the most 'pro-business' states in Mexico.
The dedicated lane is not for the use of individual Tesla car owners. Instead, it’s reserved for the electric car company’s suppliers as they travel between Mexico and Texas; Tesla has at least six suppliers in Nuevo León.
The goal of the lane is to speed up their crossing at the Colombia Solidarity checkpoint. Nuevo León's Economy Minister Ivan Rivas told Bloomberg that they want a 'crossing that’s much more expedited and efficient.'

Alaska saw its worst wildfire year in 2004, when fires burned more than 10k square miles of land. Heat waves and droughts, which have been exacerbated by the climate crisis, could make this year’s fire season even worse.
Fires this year have burned 4,500+ square miles so far, which is about the same as mid-July 2004, but hot dry weather is forecasted for the region, concerning researchers.

July 25 marks what would have been Emmett Till’s 81st birthday. Emmett was 14 years old when he was abducted, tortured, and killed by two white men in 1955, for allegedly flirting with a white woman in a grocery store.
Emmett, as well as his mother Mamie Till-Mobley, have been iconic figures of the Civil Rights Movement for decades. But his name has re-entered the news cycle this summer due to recent headlines.
Last week, the National Trust for Historic Preservation announced that Emmett’s childhood home in Chicago is one of 33 sites significant to Black American history that will receive preservation funding.

Elon Musk denied having any kind of romantic relationship with Nicole Shanahan, the wife of Google co-founder Sergey Brin.
Musk’s denial came hours after the Wall Street Journal reported that he allegedly had a 'brief affair' with Shanahan in 2021, which prompted Brin to file for divorce earlier this year.
The Tesla founder took to Twitter on July 24, saying the report is 'total bs.' He continued, 'Sergey and I are friends and were at a party together last night! I’ve only seen Nicole twice in three years, both times with many other people around. Nothing romantic.'
