God. I want more fics of #hawks struggling to bond with the League. Not even in a "for the mission" way but a "I understand them, I want to be a part of their crazy family" way. With Dabi it's easy, but the rest...
He fucks up with Spinner. He tries to bond over the fact they're both mutants, not realizing that's a sore subject for Spinner. And if easy going Spinner doesn't want anything to do with him? The rest of the League don't want him either.
So he tries again, tries to get close to Toga. Asks her this time, what she's into, but he reacts a bit too visibly when she says she likes stalking kids from 1A, and she shuts him down. Crap. He tries with Compress and with Twice, and fucks up there, too.
Finally, he decides "go big or go home" and tries to approach Shigaraki. The whole league is there to watch THAT, because holy crap, when he fucks up they're going to watch the number two get turned to dust.
Shigaraki is just playing games in the living room, Hawks is watching
his gameplay silently, watching Shigaraki die again and again as he fails to beat the level boss.
"Quit watching me, it's distracting!" Shigaraki snaps at the hero.
Hawks points at the screen. "Did you notice that crack on the wall of dungeon?"
"The what?"
Hawks shows him and asks, "Is that decoration, or-?"
Shigaraki suddenly looks excited. "No, no it's not!" He flings a bomb at the wall, which promptly explodes and knocks out 3/4s of the boss' massive health bar.
"Holy fuck, I've been trying to beat this fucker for
days!" Shigaraki exclaims, before he leans forward, thumbs flying over buttons.
Hawks, and the League, watch silently as he beats the boss, at which point Shigaraki leaps to his feet with a delighted yelp. He turns to the winged hero, smiling.
"Thank you, Hawks."
He says, nodding to him.
"No problem." Hawks replies, startled.
"Do you think you can help me with another level?"
"Sure."
The whole League is flabbergasted. Hawks sits down next to their boss and they just... chat, discussing the game like they were the best of buddies.
Later, Hawks approaches Spinner again, as he's trying to read his newest manga.
"What're you reading?" Hawks asks.
Spinner regards him out of the corner of his eye for a long moment. "Doki Doki Romance." He says shortly.
"That's a pretty gorey cover for a romance." Hawks notes.
"That's because it's about a monster that..." Spinner begins explaining the plot, and at some point Hawks pulls out his phone. Spinner stops, actually disappointed, thinking he's lost interest.
"No, keep going, I'm listening. I'm looking for where I can buy the first book." Hawks
assures him.
"You- really? Just borrow mine." Spinner offers, excited. Hawks looks up and smiles.
"Okay, sure."
Word spreads fast in their little group, and soon Toga is approaching Hawks, shyly asking if he'd want to watch a horror movie with her.
He agrees, although he was unprepared for the absolute goriness of it, even though she said it was a slasher. This was... It most definitely earned it's rated R mark.
Then Compress is recommending books and coffee shops to him, and Hawks makes a note to pick up the magician's
favorite brew. They bond over sweet coffee and mystery novels.
Finally, with Twice, well. By that point there's no effort, because Hawks is part of the family, so he's part of Twice's family, too.
Hawks looks up one day, looks around at Spinner reading his manga, at Compress reading his novel, at Shigaraki playing his game. At Twice napping on a recliner- someone had tossed a blanket on him- at Toga playing with Dabi's hair, at Dabi looking at him, and realizes OH.
Oh. oh oh oh. Not one of them is paying attention to the other, but they're all still in the living room, enjoying the closeness if not the conversation. /And he's part of it./ He's part of that closeness, as he sets down his phone, where he'd been reading a wiki article
for Shigaraki's game, since he was struggling with a puzzle. He's part of it, he's... He's one of them. Not as a villain or a spy, but... As Hawks. Maybe... Just maybe he could be part of it as Keigo, too. And that's bad, he knows that's bad, that's not what he should want,
but it is. He wants to be part of it, anyways, and now that he is, he wouldn't change it for the world.

Dabi had been hungry before. He was no stranger to an empty stomach, to long, cold nights without a bite to eat. But this... This wasn't hunger, it was /starvation./
It gnawed at his belly, clawed up his throat and left him gasping, dizzy, clutching the couch as he tried not to
fall to his knees.
"You- you feel this- constantly?" He croaked, his free hand pressed to a wailing stomach.
"Pretty much." Toga was sat on the coffee table, watching blue sparks dance between her fingers.
After fleeing a fight that had left them with each other's Quirks, the two

Hawks gets hit by a Quirk that leaves him temporarily blind, and he somehow ends up in the LOV's care. He's not bothered by his lack of sight; his feathers keep him alert to everything happening in the room, and he'd already been assured it would return within
a few hours. Currently, the only people with him are Dabi- who brought him in the first place- Toga, and Twice.
"We should play a game!" Toga said, unnerved by Hawks' vacant stare and silence. He felt her move, until she was standing in front of him. "Your hands, please."
Skeptical, Hawks gave them to her, and heard a small shuffle, before she laid something in his hand.
"What's this?" She asked.
Hawks felt it, felt smooth plastic and bumps and weird, moveable, rubber coated nubs.
"Shigaraki's controller."
"Right! What's this?" The controller
