BREAKING: THREAD: smoking gun emails reviewed by the Times show a trump lawyer named Wilenchik referring to the fraudulent slates of electors as “FAKE” in emails to Epshteyn. “‘Alternative’ votes is probably a better term than ‘fake’ votes.” 1/
Participants also reported their activities to Rudy Giuliani and Mark Meadows, and Meadows emailed a campaign advisor saying “We just need to have someone coordinating the electors for states.” 2/
Epshteyn acted as a conduit for people inside and outside the trump campaign and the White House, and was a point of contact for Eastman. He also coordinated Eastman’s pay AND the arrangements for the 1/4 meeting with Short, Jacob, Trump, Pence, and Eastman. 3/
Wilenchik also advised Kelli Ward - who was recently subpoenaed by the DoJ to keep the plan a secret. 4
He also wrote He also said “His idea is basically that all of us (GA, WI, AZ, PA, etc.) have our electors send in their votes (even though the votes aren’t legal under federal law — because they’re not signed by the Governor); so that members of Congress can fight about [it] 5/
That tracks with trump’s call to DoJ to simply announce election fraud and he and the congressional republicans would handle the rest. 6/
AND get this: these emails show a connection between the elector scheme and the violence at the capitol. 7/
I feel like the Gaetz case is in limbo. They can’t indict him because it would impact his election, they can’t keep delaying Greenberg’s sentence because it’s been a year, and I don’t think they’ve declined to indict him (yet) or Gaetz would be squawking about his innocence. 1/
*If* they have decided to prosecute, there’s a tiny window between the Florida primary (8/23), and 60 days prior to the general (9/8), but the policy doesn’t explicitly say 60 days so I imagine they would just wait until after the election (11/8). 2/
November 2022 will be five years after he and Greenberg were sex-trafficking/raping the minor (according to authorities - that lasted from May - November 2017) - but sex trafficking has no statute of limitations. 3/
THREAD: I am convinced the DoJ is investigating Donald Trump for Obstruction. This thread explains why I’m certain of that. First, we learned Thursday that Donald’s PAC paid Peter Navarro’s lawyer’s firm $241K this year. 1/ cnn.com/2022/07/21/pol…
Next, on May 26th, the office of Matt Graves (USAO DC) issued a grand jury subpoena to Navarro that had a brand spanking new grand jury number on it - different from the Ali Alexander grand jury and different from the fraudulent electors grand jury. 2/
It’s signed by Liz Aloi, part of the prosecution team who recently got Baked Alaska to flip. Also, I don’t think Navarro was the TARGET of this subpoena because they advise him not to go public with it, which would impede their investigation 3/
THREAD: Meadows. Recently, the DoJ told the court that it wasn't an OLC memo that prevented them from indicting Meadows for contempt of congress. That leaves prosecutorial discretion, and allows them to indict him for other stuff INCLUDING contempt. 1/ documentcloud.org/documents/2208…
That's a big deal because lots of folks were saying the DoJ "let Meadows walk" over an OLC memo. We know now that's not the case, and absolute immunity doesn't exist for former presidents and their top staff. So why did they decline to indict Meadows for contempt? 2/
Well, let's recall what happened with Navarro. The DoJ subpoenaed him for his communications with trump. He came in and they offered him a deal, which he rejected. So they indicted him the next day for contempt. 3/ cnn.com/2022/07/15/pol…
Whenever a fed agency gets defensive instead of being forthcoming, that's when my hackles go up. I remember being in an exec meeting at the VA asking the director if a certain scheduling action didn't amount to a "wait list" and I was told NEVER to say the words "wait list" again
See, the management was telling the schedulers to make the "desired date" of a veterans appointment the same as the date of the appointment, effectively making it look like the patient wasn't waiting at all for their appointment.
I argued that the "desired date" should be TODAY so we could accurately track how long it was taking for veterans to be seen, and zeroing that out by making the desired date the day of the appointment was effectively a digital wait list.
THREAD: let’s talk about this weak-sauce BS response from the @SecretService. “In January 2021, before any inspection was opened by OIG on this subject, USSS began resetting its mobile phones to factory settings as part of a pre-planned, three-month systems migration” 1/
First, it’s SUPER sketch that they bring up the OIG probe that began February 26, but don’t address that TWO congressional committees asked them for all relevant 1/6 documents on JANUARY 16. 2/
Why did you continue “resetting phones” after you received this letter, and why on earth would ANY agency continue with a planned January “systems migration” right after the attack on the capitol - ESPECIALLY the USSS? 3/
THINGS THE DOJ IS INVESTIGATING WITH REGARDS TO 1/6. A THREAD. I’ll update as more investigations become public.
