Schumer/Manchin: "After many months of negotiations, we have finalized legislative text that will invest approximately $300 billion in Deficit Reduction and $369.75 billion in Energy Security and Climate Change programs over the next ten years."
Schumer/Manchin: "The investments will be fully paid for by closing tax loopholes on wealthy individuals and corporations. In addition, the expanded Affordable Care Act program will be extended for three years, through 2025."

55-42: Senate BLOCKS the House-passed bill expanding access to VA healthcare and disability benefits for veterans exposed to toxins during their military service (PACT Act) from advancing to final passage. 60 votes were needed.
Schumer switched his vote from Yes to No and entered a motion to reconsider the failed cloture vote on the PACT Act to allow for a 2nd vote to take place at another time.

Manchin today announced his agreement with Schumer for the Senate to vote on the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022 which would "address record inflation by paying down our national debt, lowering energy costs and lowering healthcare costs."

McConnell on the "flap" over Speaker Pelosi's travel plans to Taiwan: "I think much more important than traveling to Taiwan is making sure we have worked with them to make sure have their defenses are adequate to the threat that may come from mainland China."
