As labor organizers & congressional staff we need to keep @Andy_Levin in Congress on Aug. 2nd in #MI11. Here's a🧵on why. 1/

@Andy_Levin is the MOST pro-worker and pro-union candidate not just in the #MI11 race but in Congress. And it’s not just because of good “score-cards” and “ratings”. 2/

I’ve worked for @Andy_Levin for 4 years. I’ve sat in on many meetings. I’ve watched him hold big corporations’ feet to the fire when they use union-busting tactics. He has no interest in being cozy with any company that doesn't support workers. 3/

I’ve also watched @Andy_Levin challenge his “pro-labor” colleagues in closed door Democratic party meetings as members try to water down bills like the Raise the Wage Act by using anti-worker talking points. 4/

When @Andy_Levin introduced the resolution to give congress staff the right to unionize, he defended us.

When fellow Dem members told him to “slow down staff unionization”, his response?

This is a movement led by workers. We must listen to the workers and follow their lead. 5/

Before @Andy_Levin considers supporting or drafting any legislation, the first question our entire team knows to ask: what do the workers think? How will this impact them? 6/

@Andy_Levin has also built an incredible team of people committed to social justice and liberation for all. A team that has pushed me to fight harder for working families. 7/

I’ll be honest, as a congressional staffer, I don’t trust a lot of politicians on either side of the aisle. I’ve watched who they are when they don’t have an audience. I’ve watched how they treat their staff.

But @Andy_Levin isn’t a politician. 8/

@Andy_Levin is an organizer, a human rights activist, an environmentalist, a father. That doesn't change when the audience goes away.

He's been "Andy" to me every day since the very beginning. Not Congressman Levin, not Mr. Levin, Andy. And its who he'll always be.

We need to keep @Andy_Levin in Congress. As congressional staff, as labor organizers, as fighters for social justice, human rights & the planet.
