I said I was twice reminded of the stumbling block concept. If you're interested, the second person who reminded me of it was Heavenly of #M2M who is ostentatiously religious but a mean, malicious gossip. Her faith enables her behavior rather than change it.
She could buy a private jet if she got a dollar every time she asked forgiveness. But her behavior never changes with forgiveness. She just does it again and again and again. The epitome of the stumbling block - someone who demonstrates that morality comes from within not without
And because she relies on the forms of faith, her behavior is immoral - not in the terms of modern society that thinks all immorality is sexual, but in the sense of a person who knows right from wrong and chooses to do wrong.
Yes, I am an atheist, but I was raised a Baptist and some of that worldview remains. The concept of someone's behavior causing another to err is still with me, though not in terms of impeding their faith, but in terms of creating apathy, despair, and cynicism.

Growing up Baptist, we were always told not to be stumbling block. We were expected to show through our behavior that faith had a positive effect on our character & our actions. If we behaved badly, we might unknowingly impede someone's path to salvation. A stumbling block.
I realized gods were unnecessary to morality and good character long ago and the "stumbling block" concept kind of faded away. But it was brought to mind twice in the last week, most seriously by David Hogg who is a stumbling block to winning gun reform.
Cynicism and despair create the kind of apathy that says "my vote doesn't matter" and "voting doesn't work" and "there's no difference between the parties." If you follow Hogg (I don't) you will see that he stokes anger by feeding cynicism and despair.

The folks who criticize KHive for being mean write their dramas in three acts.
Act 1
Option A. Someone QTs or replies to a tweet by someone associated with KHive asserting something that is contradicted by evidence.
Option B. Someone makes an egregiously statement & KH replies
Act Two
Their assertion is rebutted with links to articles and screenshots from mainstream news sites and government sites.
They continue to assert their claim with increased certainly but with no evidence.
More receipts are provided.
Act Three

KHive is so mean to me.

Blue check influencers and self-described opinion leaders echo the claim, KHive is so mean.

KHive shrugs. You can't fix mendacity.

Let's talk about that blue suit. VP Kamala Harris was hosting a roundtable with disability rights leaders to discussion the recent Roe v. Wade reversal as those with disabilities often have more difficult and high-risk pregnancies leading to a disparate impact on disabled people
This was not a high profile, set your DVR event. The people in the disability community who are aware that descriptions are inclusive to people who are visually impaired, many of whom may not be 100% blind and be able to identify people by the color of their clothing.
But also to people who are blind and might just like to know what other people experience in the meeting. It's a matter of inclusion and respect. It was not an event for the general public, though perhaps the general public needs to see it anyway considering the asshattery today

I may have mentioned I could not afford my Eliquis co-pay. I looked at a couple of sites that featured programs to help with drug costs but they were more for people who are not on Medicare. However, my doctor referred me to Pharmacy Support at my clinic and wow! That's the way
Not only did she identify a program, she gathered the paperwork from the doctor (which saved me the paperwork fee) and from me and then faxed it all to the company. Some pages didn't get through the first time so she faxed them again yesterday.
Today I got a call from Bristol Meyer Squibb telling me I am approved and a 3-month supply will arrive in a couple days and the next will be sent a few weeks before they run out. I called to thank the woman in Pharmacy support and she told me to call her in November to apply for

During the Gilded Age, graft was a regular feature of government employment. Help someone's campaign via money or time and you could get a job that you might get paid to do without even showing up or one that allows you to incorporate a kickback as a share of commerce.
It was called the spoils system as in "to the victor go the spoils" and let to widespread corruption, incompetence, and malfeasance. Certain requisite government functions simply did not happen because the political appointee never showed up to work.
The Pendleton Act of 1883 was passed to end the spoils system. It created a merit-based civil service that tested applicants, looked at resumes, and protected employees from firing by political appointees and electeds.

Frank Luntz should be remembered as the guy who manipulated language to advance GOP policy goals. Saying death tax instead of inheritance tax enriched the rich. But this Rufo character is weaponizing language against people, not in any sincere belief, but solely to energize votes
He has energized anti-Blackness with his CRT lies to the point that history is being rewritten by Pangloss. Now he his going the same for gender. He doesn't care that people will die or that children will be in despair. He just wants to get people frothing at the mouth with hate
Luntz is bad. Rufo is exponentially worse.
