here is the real reason why amnesty thing is much bigger than the report itself and it crucial for you to understand if you claim to be a ukraine ally. hear me out
i don’t claim to speak on behalf of ukrainians, but i can share what triggered me and so many ukrainian friends. sure, the report is a botched job, lacking context, carrying misleading narrative, distorted focus. but we’ve seen dozens of reports like these in the last decade
even couple of weeks ago @hrw released a similar report. few got triggered. why? because this western privileged “bothsidesism” is not new for ukrainians. equating victim and aggressor is popular coping strategy for foreigners to justify not taking any responsibility or action
hey @amnesty. every ukrainian in your circles warned you against publishing this weak poorly-researched garbage yet your western bosses went ahead with it anyway. colonial arrogance much?
your ukraine @Amnesty_UA team is risking their lives every day meticulously documenting russian genocide crimes. but your leadership somewhere west and safe still decided it is okay to sacrifice their work, their security & reputation just for one idiotic statement
many international orgs forget they live off the communities they claim to serve. our tragedies is the reason you can fundraise those millions and get your fat paychecks. so when ukrianians tell you don’t do it - fucking listen and stop thinking you are better than us
great job guys. doing business with genocidal mass-murdering regime when literally all of your competitors left really pays off, does it @mondigroup? #boycottrussia
for context: @mondigroup remains the last foreign producer of tetracpack and other advanced food packaging in russia. it is a world leader in packaging and paper
in russia @mondigroup has a plant for producing pulp, packaging paper, and high-quality uncoated paper (jsc mondi slpk) and three processing plants (llc mondi aramil, llc mondi pereslavl, llc mondi lebedyan)
that will shock no one but @ICRC says it never guaranteed security for ukrainians slaughtered in olenivka. nor does it guarantee any security for anyone anywhere, really.
but they can maybe bring pows bottles of water once in a while.
the statement mentions russia ZERO times
all those foreign celebrities who fundraised for @ICRC and helped to siphon money away from ukrainians in need should be forced to watch footage of the olenivka massacre every day before they go sleep.
in a twist of irony, @ICRC put out there a perfect statement illustrating why it rendered itself fully useless as an institution icrc.org/en/document/ol…
in a historic move president zelenskyy has just promised queer ukrainians to put forward a civil partnerships law with an open road to marriage equality after the martial law ends
last week i explained why queer equality progress goes hand-in-hand with decolonization in ukraine in my latest drop of free press eristavi newsletter. here's a free preview
this historic promise is not a gift or twist of fate. years of hard work by queer ukrianians putting our lives on the line for equal rights made it possible. tens of thousands of queer ukrainians defending our country in this genocide made it possible
