Jessica is a Nigerian - American inventor, CEO and venture capitalist.
She was born on February 13, 1988, and grew up in Poughkeepsie, New York, as a dual citizen of the United States and Nigeria.
2.) What is Jessica known for?
She is the Founder and CEO of the award-winning company Uncharted.
Jessica's career started at 19 with her invention of the Soccket, an energy-generating soccer ball. She then later invented the Pulse.
2a.) Why did Jessica create the Soccket and Pulse?
She was motivated to create it after attending an aunt's wedding in Nigeria disrupted by a power outage.
For each person that buys the Soccket or Pulse, one is given to a child in need.
3.) How did the Soccket and Pulse work?
The Soccket - kicking the ball for 30 minutes, it generated enough energy to power a small, attachable LED light for three hours.
The Pulse - using a jumping rope for 15 minutes would generate 3 hours of power for an LED light.

It was reported that Matthews is the 13th black female founder to have raised more than $1 million in funding.
By March 2017 500,000 Socckets and pulses had been used in developing regions, primarily in Africa and Latin America.
