COURT SENTENCES 3 WOMEN IN LAGOS FOR HUMAN TRAFFICKING

•The criminal trial in FHC/133/2017, came to an end on 29th January,2021 with the sentencing of the three defendants, all of whom were charged for contravening Section 23(1)(b) of TIPEA, 2015.

• They were all found guilty in counts 1-5 of the charge, but exculpated in count 6. The punishment attracts a minimum term of 2years, but not exceeding 7years.without option of fine. However, following plea of allocutus and the present Covid-19 pandemic, they were

sentenced to 6 months’ imprisonment to run concurrently from the time they were arrested in March,2015, hence they went home thereafter.

NAPTIP TO PARTNER WITH NSCDC IN THE FIGHT AGAINST HUMAN TRAFFICKING
The Zonal commander NAPTIP SOKOTO ZONAL COMMAND paid a curtsey visit to the Commandant, Nigeria Security and Civil defense Corps(NSCDC), Sokoto Command on Thursday,4th February,2021 together with management staff

of the COMMAND.
The ZONAL COMMANDER MR MITIKA MAFA ALI, reiterate the existing working relationship between the two organizations and urge the NSCDC to continue with the effective and efficient synergy that already exists between us.
In his response, the Commandant promise to

work with NAPTIP in combating human trafficking in the state, he also promised to always be there whenever we knock at their door. He also promised to appoint a desk officer for NAPTIP.

International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD) and Netherland who paid a courtesy visit to her.

Earlier today the Director General Paid A courtesy visit to the Chairman ICPC.
in her speech she said it’s important we build bridges with sister agencies of law enforcement and investigation crimes.

COURTS JAIL A MIDDLE AGE SEXUAL OFFENDER IN SOKOTO

The sledge hammer of justice fell heavily on a heartless middle aged sex offender in Nigeria as High Court in Sokoto State have convicted him for sexual exploitation of a minor of age 9. The High Court in Sokoto presided over

COURT JAILS MIDDLE AGE MAN FOR TRAFFICKING A JOB SEEKER
A Federal High Court sitting in Asaba, Delta State capital presided over by Honourable Justice T. B Adegoke, has convicted a middle aged man Frank Israel for trafficking a 22 years old job seeker, Anthony Francis to Europe

for labour exploitation thereby violating the provisions of the Trafficking in Persons (Prohibition) Law Enforcement Act 2015 as amended.
The convict was arraigned in Court by the Benin Zonal Command of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP)

following his arrest by the men of the Asaba Division of the Nigeria Police in 2020.
In the case No. FHC/ASB/ 35c/ 2020, Investigation revealed that sometimes in 2017, the convict recruited the victim one Anthony Francis on the promise of smuggling him to Europe at the payment
