Siddartha Shankar Ray’s speech on Jyoti Basu. Both were close friends. Jyoti Basu was in financial trouble early on. Ray informed this to CM Dr. B. C. Roy, who immediately designated him as LoP so that he could draw LoP’s salary. Current WB CM sends police to LoP’s home !

Bidhan Chandra Roy backstabbed Subhas Babu, looked the other way when Bengal’s land were given to Bihar and East Pakistan. Jyoti Basu was the member of CPI, which again backstabbed Subhas and sided with the British during Quit India movement.
Only thing that can be said in defense of the current WB CM’s conduct wrt LoP vis a vis Dr Bidhan Roy’s conduct wrt then LoP Jyoti Basu, when Dr Roy showed grace, Jyoti Basu was not a serious challenger. While current LoP has defeated current CM.
Would Dr. Roy be vindictive against a serious challenger. Hard to say because he had no compunction serving in the committee that expelled Subhas Babu from INC & was welcomed by men sent by Birla on his return from that meeting.
