1. So I've spent the past 24 hours or so monitoring the Canadian far-right's reaction to the search of Donald Trump's residence Mar-a-Lago. It is mostly as you would expect.
Let's start with Tyler Russell who founded Canada First but is now apparently a full-time US resident.
2. Russell was among the Trump supporters who showed up at Mar-a-Lago to show their support for the disgraced former President.
3. And since he isn't subtle about his beliefs, Tyler Russell embraces fascism and the use of the state apparatus, should his kind achieve power, to target all he deems to be the enemy.
Really, this is a very clear example of when someone tells you who they are, believe them.
4. "Why would we abolish the FBI when we can use it to kick in the doors of EVER SINGLE liberal in the country?"
Followed by a photo alleged to be the judge who signed the search warrant.
5. @antihateca has a number of articles about Tyler Russell and Canada First. Here is a selection.
8. Shane Marshall, who appears to be a leader in the Canada First hate group, corresponded with Russell discussing the execution of the search warrant.
9. Again, here is Shane Marshall courtesy of @antihateca
15. Rebel Media posted about the raid on their Instagram page. The responses were as one might expect.
16. Former NHL player Theoren Fleury offered his "nuanced" view though he mostly retweeted enraged, reactionary, far-right American political and media figures.
Still, for someone who battled substance abuse himself, the last tweet is pretty disgusting.
17. Fellow Olympic gold medalist Jamie Salé who also fell down the conspiracy rabbit whole basically parrots Fleury, though she does inject a bit of End Times Rapture rhetoric into the mix.
18. One of the first of the right-wing media in Canada to discuss the execution of the warrant was the Alberta-based Western Standard.
Here the author tries to terrify his readers by suggesting Trudeau will be after his political enemies next.
19. No doubt there are more comments since I last looked, but I can't imagine it will be different from these one which basically threw all the conspiracies together in a giant word salad.
20. When I looked on Facebook, there wasn't a lot there initially though that will no doubt change. These ones are representative of what I did find.
21.
22. Jay Riedel, who makes no bones about his love for Trump, has posted this thus far since I last looked.
23. Y'all might know Jay from his partnership with Pat King during the first convoy to Ottawa ostensibly to support the oil industry but which was sort of a front for the far-right Yellow Vest movement.
25. And if you ever thought that voting in municipal elections is a waste of time, Jay Riedel was elected mayor of a small village not long after the convoy took place.
26. Logan Murphy, a QAnon believer who was at the Capitol on January 6 and who was walking with James Topp is excited about the raid as he believes it will usher in the "Great Awakening."
Also, he seems to be encouraging people to harass the judge that signed the warrant.
27. There are now a number of posts from the self-proclaimed Queen of Canada and now the world Romana Didulo as well as comments. I don't think it is necessary to post everything but the comments range from excitement to confusion.
28. The Telegram posts from the Global Freedom Convoy which was set up to promote the #OttawOccupation and spread vaccine disinformation has been... uhm... busy.
29.
30.
31. Yeah, lots of calls for civil war which is really rather unhelpful.
32. Seems that someone has noticed the thread.
33. Son, I've been called much worse things by far better people. :)
34. So, this post from an overtly pro-Nazi Telegram page is certainly a choice.
35. So want to down an interesting path now?
Meet Georganne Buke who has been retweeting a lot of the far-right figures who are apoplectic about the exercising of a search warrant on Trump's residents.
There is a reason she blocked me which I will get to soon enough.
36. This is a selection of retweets which includes (of course) Ezra Levant and other Rebel personalities, but as I said also American figures on the right and far-right.
37.
38.
39. Thing is, Burke is no random figure as she has played a significant role in Canadian Conservative politics for years.
40. She isn't a fan of mine as I wrote about her connection to anti-Muslim groups, Worldwide Coalition Against Islam and Cultural Action Party.
"Anti-Omar Khadr Rally Planned For July 16 on Parliament Hill: An Examination of One of the Organizers"
44. Also, you know what they say about people living in glass castles, eh?
45. And this individual, who I plan on writing about at greater length later, is connected to some of the most significant Conservative figures in this country.
Yikes!
46. Well, this seems perfectly normal.

Missing some Tweet in this thread? You can try to
force a refresh
1. Stephen Yaxley-Lennon (aka Tommy Robinson) was arrested in Calgary on an immigration warrant apparently. He may have since been released, though he has to turn in his passport and remain in southern Alberta.
I'd prefer that he be kicked out immediately.
2. Despite claiming to have been a "political prisoner" many of Yaxley-Lennon's criminal convictions his Islamophobic "activism" and a number of convictions since have had nothing to do with his political views.
3. In 2005, he was convicted assaulting a police officer who intervened during an argument Yaxley-Lennon was having with his then girlfriend.
1/ It's been a while since I've done a thread here, but the recent focus on Pat King got me to wondering what was up with his own Salacious Crumb, Tyson "Freedom George" Billings.
2/ Last time I looked at Billings he was a part of the efforts to set up a permenant camp outside Ottawa so there could be daily protests, though the original plan involved surrounding the police and arresting politicians.
Suffice to say it didn't go anywhere.
3/ Billings and Ron Clark soon headed home, but they both soon got involved in other protests including the anti-carbon tax protests occurring in the province. The numbers at these events have been small but that hasn't stopped from politicians from courting the fringes it seems.
1/ Though I'm not especially active these days, I'm still sometimes gobsmacked by some of the ridiculous (though sadly effective) rage farming by some on the right. Harrison Faulkner of "True North" is just a recent example of that.
2/ So a bit of background. Musical artist Karan Aujla won the 2024 TikTok Juno Fan Choice Award at the award ceremony this past weekend.
I think it was this weekend. Truth be told I don't pay a lot of attention to awards shows.
3/ It should be noted that Aujla has been in Canada for years emigrating as an orphan. He graduated from high school in Canada. The album was produced by a Canadian on a Canadian label.
1/ A couple of days ago self-proclaimed leaders of the "freedom movement" held a press conference in Ottawa which was about as unhinged as you might have expected.
2/ Apparently the person who set this up was Derek Noonan who was also one of the speakers.
That would be this guy and I shall get back to him shortly.
3/ Because these "freedom patriot" types are SUPER jealous of anyone getting even a tiny bit of the noteriety they seem to believe they deserve and are entitled to, Gordon Berry was not happy with the press conference.
1. Misinformation has always been a feature on Twitter but prior to Musk's ownership there appeared to be a minimal effort (very minimal) to counter it. Those days are clearly over.
Case in point, Theo Fleury shared this with his 285.8K followers today:
2. Before I go any further, no. This is not in fact true at all and a fact check would indicate that it isn't true.
Pictured here with Chrystia Freeland is her mother and sister.
3. When asked about the photo, the original poster said it was taken in 1967:
