I fell into the #KnowledgeGraph (KG) and Personal Knowledge Graph (PKG) rabbit hole. After too many hours of reading and watching, I'm now smarter than before; however, I am still learning.
Some stops along the way:
⬇️
Towards Definition of Knowledge Graphs ceur-ws.org/Vol-1695/paper… resonated re "Graph-based knowledge representation has been researched for decades and the term knowledge graph does not constitute new technology. Rather, it is buzzword reinvented by Google and adopted by other[s]"
However, Ehrlinger and Wöß's definition "A knowledge graph acquires and integrates information into an ontology and applies a reasoner to derive new knowledge." lands flat.

A broad simply def "a directed labeled graph in which domain specific meanings are associated with nodes and edges. A node could represent any real-world entity...An edge label captures relationship of interest between the two nodes..."
Useful concepts in @onotext ontotext.com/knowledgehub/f…
🔹KG use data management Database, Graph & Knowledgebase paradigms
🔹RDF representation provides Expressivity, Performance, Interoperability & Standardization
🔹Modeling w/ Classes, Relationship Types, Categories & Descriptions
IBM ibm.com/cloud/learn/kn…
🔹Ontologies are..frequently mentioned in the context of knowledge graphs, but...there is still debate around how they differ [I feel this]
🔹Knowledge graphs are typically made up of datasets from various sources, which frequently differ in structure
Shifting to PKG storage.googleapis.com/pub-tools-publ…
PKG is source of structured knowledge about entities & relation between them, where entities & the relations are of personal importance. The graph has “spiderweb” layout, where every node in graph is connected to one central node: the user
I am looking forward to the completion of the personalknowledgegraphs.com book and am hopeful that it will be the one-stop resource for PKG, which I am reaching for now.
The book abstracts lead me to watch @kvistgaard's
The video includes a list of PKM usecases (not PKG per se, but informs my own work with usecases) and the attached graphic that illustrates a provocative and optimistic PKG third wave.
