HMRC sought to avoid release of the info on the grounds that the request was vexatious. Initially the ICO agreed with them. 3/5
Judgement stated that although there is no specific public interest in the particular information requested, there is a general public interest, at least for a section of the public, in transparency in relation to HMRC’s dealings with the #LoanCharge. 4/5
Hopefully @hmrcgovuk can be forced to follow both the spirit and purpose the law of the FOIA in future. Link to judgement below. 5/5
