🚨 | ‘Since week 15 we have been seeing this big rise in excess deaths, at least 10% above average. The excess across different age groups and missed healthcare is bound to be a factor’

💬 Chat with @danwootton on #excessdeaths & we are also seeing record A&E attendances.
Thread here on the excessdeaths which I will update in the morning when we get the latest weeks data
Story here on the record A&E attendances
Here @danwootton read out a statement from the Department for Health saying that circulatory diseases and diabetes may be partly to explain for the rise in excess deaths.
NHS England analysis showed that we have seen more people dying linked to diabetes than would have been expected, citing a reduction in checks due to cut backs on healthcare for non Covid.

🚨 | A further 1,662 excess deaths in England and Wales for the latest week of data, 2022 vs 2015/19 average.

In the first 31 weeks of 2022, we have seen registered deaths more than 10% above average among those aged 10-14, 30-34, 35-39, 55-59, 60-64, and 75-79.

1/9 Image
Deaths for the first part of 2022 were below average - which is not unsurprising because of the large numbers of excess we saw in 2020 and 2021.

For the second half of the year, deaths have been at least 10% above average.

For the most recent week 18.4% above average.

2/9 Image
🚨| For the most recent week there were 10,698 registered deaths in total, Covid was the cause of 469 of them and involved (mentioned but not main cause) in a further 254.

So 939 deaths above average with Covid not mentioned on the death certificate.

🚨 | ‘If you're an energy company and the Government is saying we'll pay money towards your bill you may as well sit in your boardroom and put the prices up more’

💥 Heading for transfer of wealth to energy companies & us saddled with Government debt

Chat with @MarkSteynOnline
‘We've been sleepwalking our way into this big disaster that's coming and Labour, Tories & Lib Dems are all complicit in this complete shambles that we've had over the last 30 years with energy security’
Removing coal, reducing nuclear & North Sea gas then importing foreign gas is why we are in the mess we are.

People will die because of this. The bottom 20% of households in terms of income don’t have the money to pay.

It’s not a case of not wanting to pay - they can’t.

🚨 | ‘The main role for Government is to provide the basic things you need to live such as water, gas, electricity and we've slept walked over the last 30 years into this energy security crisis’

💥 UK reliance on foreign gas to blame for high #energybills

Chat with @Iromg
🚨 | Government ‘green’ policy the past 30 years has exposed the UK to high energy prices.

💥 Set to be 300% higher in Jan 23 vs Jan 22

➡️ Removing coal, reducing nuclear & North Sea gas then importing foreign gas is why we are here

People will die because of this ❌
The UK’s reliance on gas to generate electricity has gone from 0.6% in 1986 to 40% in 2021.

In 2021 the UK used more imported gas than domestically produced for the first time ever.

It is sheer incompetence to have allowed where we are today to have happened.

Of course cleaner energy is a good thing - but energy security is far more important. You need to get that right first, then focus on the cleaner sources second.

Since week 15 deaths above average accelerated. This is not due to deaths where Covid mentioned on the death certificate. Image

For the most recent week of data, we have seen registered deaths that are 21.7% above the 2015/19 average.

A part of this is down to having more older people than in 2015/19 in the population but is not the main factor (may explain around 4-5%).
