10 reasons why we can't have nice things.

A thread about why humanity is doomed and everything is fucked.

If we could collective fix even just 2 of these points, we'd change the world.
1) We're terrible at the future

We're awful at planning beyond what will feel good right now.

We consistently choose the easier path because it makes everyone feel better instead of doing the harder things that suck...

But make us healthier, happier, and more prosperous later.
2) We can't admit when we're wrong

Humans will die over pride. This seems honorable except when it's misplaced and prevents them from finding a MUCH better solution

But they won't take it because that means admitting the original solution—the one they're ego vested in—was wrong
3) We can't accept when someone admits they're wrong

Humans simultaneously call people out for being wrong, then hold it over their heads later even if—and many times, especially—they admit they were wrong.

This, of course, makes people less likely to admit they were ever wrong
4) Tribalism and false dichotomy

"If you're not for me, you're against me" mentality.

Politicians exploit this tribal mentality by proposing all types of crazy shit in the name of the party ideals.

If you don't support that idea, you must be against all the party's ideas.
5) Greed

People will make a dollar any way they can. It ALWAYS comes back to the money.

For any conspiracy, ask yourself who financially benefits, & you'll have it figured out.

Also, remember: Crime causes poverty is WAY more true than poverty causes crime. #CorruptPoliticians
6) Lack of gratitude

We're experts at comparing what's wrong and what we lack. We forget what we have and how fortunate we are.

Everyone thinks their life is shit.

They tweet about it from an iPhone in a house where they have no fear of getting popped by a stray bullet.
7) No accountability

Everything is someone else's fault

Even how you feel about yourself results from the world and its unfair standards for success and beauty

"It's called SELF-ESTEEM. It's the esteem of yo mothafuckin self! How the fuck can I fuck up how you feel about you?"
8) We try to cheat trade-offs

You can have anything. You just can't have everything.

People think they can get everything from money to romance without doing the work for it.

And then, of course, they blame other people because they didn't plan for the future.
9) We're lazy

Not just physically, though that's obvious.

Mentally, no one does research past the headline. Emotionally, no one exercises self-control.

And because we're also greedy, media and corporations take advantage of this. So you're mad about everything AND fat.
10) No respect for each other

People don't respect each other. No empathy, awareness, or appreciation.

This is not to be confused with coddling and safe spaces.

This is just presenting your best self to your fellow human at all times and with the best intentions.
This rant covers why I think our evolution is stuck, and we'll wipe ourselves out before climate change, asteroids, or viruses.

Why you need to change how you do affiliate deals.

A thread born of me getting bad or bullshit offers.
When you approach someone to be an affiliate, look at their whole operation.

Depending on their audience size and engagement, you're also getting significant exposure and in-built trust.

You're also eating up bandwidth from stuff they could be selling or promoting.
That's why I changed how I do affiliate deals.

Unless you're much bigger or you're moving a physical product with margins, I don't accept anything *less* than 50%.

Then, depending on the size differential of our audience, I ask for even more AND/OR an upfront fee.

I've been coaching boxing one night a week, and one thing that amazes me is how many little things you pick up over time that make a big difference.

It's not one punch technique, defensive movement, or athletic ability.

It's how all of these things work together.
The biggest difference between amateur-minded fighters (and there are many in the pros) and professional-minded fighters (and there are some in the amateurs) is this:

Pro-minded fighters see no difference between offensive and defense. Mentally, this is huge.
Physically, pro-minded fighters can make any shot have knockout power.

Amateur-minded fighters don't know how to hit "soft but heavy" or "hard but light."

Here are 15 classic signs that you grew up in the hood.

I was born in the projects and lived there until I was 18, so trust me.

I know the ghetto as well as any crackhead or cop.
1. You have the same last name as your mother.

Assuming she wasn't taken forcefully (censorship wording), this either means:

Your daddy wasn't shit, she's not sure exactly who he was, or she's got a bunch of kids with different men.

Typical stuff in the hood.
2. You were doing active shooter drills in school before they hit the rest of America

My *elementary* school had metal detectors.

Gang violence was such a big deal our middle school had uniforms to avoid gang violence over colors.

Different reasons for the drills. Same problem

People will play along with and entertain a lot of nonsense...

As long as you don't force them to act as if that nonsense is real and holds weight.

If you understand what I'm saying, you understand the slippery slope society is sliding down so quickly.
Anyone from the streets knows the game they're (The MCG cartel) is playing.

They keep testing you, pushing up on you, and seeing how much bitch is your blood before they rob you.

By the time they make a move, they don't even need a gun to jack you. You give it right up.
I'm a chill dude and won't go out of my way to antagonize or be an asshole...

But I'm also not entertaining anyone's attempt to redefine objective reality.

Be what you wanna be. Do what you wanna do as long as you don't hurt me and mine or expect me to play along.

I always warn people to be respectful and cool because you never know who doesn't give a fuck about going to jail.

Well, the same thing applies to cheating in a relationship:

You never know who doesn't give a shit about going to prison–or worse...

I started thinking about this today when I found out a dude from my old unit is facing a bunch of felony charges.

For what?

Not because he went after the dude who banged his girl, but because someone's wife he was banging wanted to break it off and he lost it.

How bad was it?
Threatened her and her kids.
Sent nudes to her and them.
Stalked her and them.

Then was arrested in possession of an improvised explosive device on the way to blow her house up.

Below is the case dockett. Even though it's public record, I blocked his name.

June has been the month of asking for help and learning. Here are some notable people who have helped me out.

I recommend you follow them all.

Just had a fantastic 30-minute convo with @thejustinwelsh about Linkedin

Great guy. Extremely helpful. Really opened my eyes to stuff.
I've gained almost 20k followers on Instagram this month thanks for @thedankoe dropping some knowledge on me.

His content is great as well.

Definitely a solid follow.
I've always been good at SEO, but the master @nateliason shot me some articles he wrote and hooked me up with his fantastic course on SEO.

He's the man to follow for great content, great reflections, and to learn how to monetize website traffic.
