“Ugmh, what’s up baby?” Eijirou asks, stretching his arms above his head. He’s a bit confused about the middle of the night wake up. They both have two days off in a row,

and he wasn’t exactly expecting to spend it waking up before the sun does.
“Grab your shoes, we’re leaving.” Katsuki whispers before turning away, preparing to leave their shared bedroom.
Now Katsuki really has his attention.

Katsuki simply turns around and gives a mischievous smile, one that definitely shows Eijirou he’s up to no good, before turning back to the door.
“5 minutes Ei,” he calls. Eijirou sputters at the lack of reaction before moving into action.

He stumbles over his pants left in the middle of the floor, and with only his boxers and the bed head of the century, he yells
“Can I at least bring Mr. Crimson?!”
10 minutes later, Eijirou is snuggled up in the passenger seat, his Crimson Riot stuffie and blanket in hand.

He’s already poked and prodded at Katsuki, hoping he’ll get a hint about where they’re going. But he knows once Katsuki decides something, he does it, no questions asked. So Eijirou sits back, relaxes, and opts to take a nap.
A few hours later, Eijirou is more awake, and they’re still driving?
“Kats, where are we going?” It’s daylight now, and Katsuki has a coffee in hand, baseball cap firmly on his head, blocking the sunrise. He gestures to the ice coffee in Eijirou’s cup holder.

Eijirou takes a sip, admiring Katsuki’s blond eyelashes against the sun. He looks at the road and doesn’t recognize any of the scenery.
“Baby, you remember when you said you wanted to go to the beach?” Katsuki’s asks, placing a hand on Eijirou’s thigh.

The large hand wants him to his core, and he feels safe, protected.
“Yeah, we talked about going next summer!” Eijirou is excited, thinking about all the times they’re going to have. But it clicks for him, and suddenly his head is whipping toward Katsuki’s smug look.

“We’re going to the beach?” His lip goes wobbly and his eyes quickly fill with tears. “Kats, I can’t believe you! Are you serious?”
“Course, I am. And I managed to sneak an extra few days off for the both of us.”
Eijirou bursts into tears, sobbing into his iced coffee.

They’ve talked about taking a vacation for years, but could never manage to find the time to take a whole week off. Katsuki planned everything ahead of time, all to surprise him.
“I love you so much, babe,” Eijirou says kissing Katsuki’s cheek.

“Oh! But I don’t have any of my stuff! I’m wearing pajama pants and a crusty hoodie, I can’t go out like this,” Eijirou folds into himself with pink cheeks.
Katsuki rolls his eyes fondly.

And of course, Eijirou’s loving boyfriend thought of everything. A whole suitcase full of clothes, bathing suits, a camera, and of course, a whole tote of snacks he picked up at their first stop.

Eijirou’s lip started to wobble again, pouting at Katsuki.
“You really /do/ love me!” he grabs Katsuki’s hand, smothering it with kisses. Katsuki gives a “tch” in response.
“Yeah, yeah. I love you too. Now get ready to change. If we get pulled over while you’re driving,

The journey ended up being 8 hours of pure fun. Eijirou got to sing his favorite songs, while Katsuki tapped along. They even had a couple of duets, although Katsuki will deny them all.

Katsuki was happy his surprise road trip worked out, while Eijirou loved being able to spend so much uninterrupted time with his boyfriend. They laughed and snacked and kissed the day away.
It was the perfect start to their vacation.
