Update on Virgil Griffith:

Virgil has been in solitary confinement for nearly 3 months. Not as a punishment but b/c it was the only place they had available beds in his prison 🤦‍♂️.

He'll be moved to the general population once there's room, but it's unclear when that will be.
1/
He's of course alone all the time, only gets out of his cell an hour a day, highly limited on the things he can have in his cell or receive in the mail, e.g. he can't receive books in the mail (but can in the general prison population). He also says his food is not reliable.

2/
No one has been able to visit him so far.

A few ppl were set to try earlier this month (there's a process to even get permission to visit) but it was cancelled due to a covid shutdown.

3/
He *can* send and receive letters tho.

Note all letters you send him or he sends you are opened & read by the prison.

Don't talk about his case. And if you don't have something positive to say to him then don't send anything.

Just be positive, it's what he needs right now.

4/
Keep letters simple: normal paper, black & white, no photos, etc. Include your mailing address in the letter body to ensure he gets it to respond (he does respond).

All encouragement can have a big impact, as you can imagine.
5/
If you're thinking you don't have envelopes or stamps b/c who sends letters anymore, there is a cool online service called SwitchMail which let's you upload a PDF and they'll mail it for you (for a small fee).

This makes sending letters super easy

Here's his address:

Virgil Griffith 79038-112
FCI Allenwood Low
Federal Correctional Institution
P.O. Box 1000
White Deer, PA 17887 USA

It doesn't take too long to send a letter. Tell him about what you've been up to lately. He'd be happy to hear about it.

/end
P.S. If you don't know who Virgil Griffith is, he was a very prominent person in the Ethereum community for years, worked at the Ethereum Foundation, was involved with ENS, good guy, but got arrested at the end of 2019. You can Google his name to read about his case
P.P.S., if you haven't seen it already, check out the final message to the community he left before going to prison at virgil.eth (virgil.eth.limo)

which government will be the first to acquire some $ENS and start participating in DAO governance?
definitely an opportunity for a more entrepreneurial govt bureaucrat to win their country the distinction of being the first
could be a big country (some department just makes it happen) or a smaller country, I could see either happening
