On or around July 24 2016, Johnny and Amber agreed to meet in person. Johnny was on tour with the Hollywood Vampires but had two final shows in CA. The first was in Saratoga, fifty miles south of San Francisco.

In a deposition, talent agent Christian Carino talked about flying to SF with Amber. He had arranged a meeting with JD at a friend's house. After a few hours there with Amber, JD showed up with security.

Christian testified that Amber and Johnny sat outside, inches apart, and talked for a few hours. He got a call from the house's owner that they needed to vacate. Christian took an Uber with Amber to a hotel while Johnny went with security.

In the UK Johnny remembered the hotel as the Omni (pictured above). Christian recalls them beginning to fight as soon as they were in the room. He stayed for the duration and flew home the next morning.

It appears that Johnny and Amber stayed the night and continued talking the next day. Johnny picked up some coke the second day and was on the phone to his lawyers when Amber hit the record button on her phone. The following conversation was preserved without his knowledge.

Johnny calls her "irrational." She points out that she is making a rational point. And she is: the police were not called yesterday when they met and Johnny felt comfortable buying controlled drugs the next morning. He is not in danger.

They begin to bicker. Johnny says that her audible delivery might spur another fight. "Is that what you want?"

In her VA testimony, Whit said that Johnny kicked her out of the ECB in 2015 because of suspicion he had that she was selling stories to tabloids. She denied it. This is what lead to her staying for several months with boss Jennifer Howell. She moved back to the ECB in 2016.

Amber is bemused. Why is screaming verboten when throwing punches and headbutting isn't? Johnny casually acknowledges that he headbutted her. This refers to the Dec 15 incident.

A pause to consider what just happened. As he was scolding her for yelling at his lawyers, he blasely admits to headbutting her. He shows no concern or empathy for her but is instead annoyed at the reminder.

The emphasis is on "face" not "throw" or "phone." There may be a tacit acknowledgement that he threw it though. This is not what he said in VA, but it's closer to what he told Paige in a contemporaneous text.

Eliot Spitzer was the Democratic governor of New York state who was caught on wiretap with an escort. He spent 15K on call girls. This was back around the same time The Rum Diary was in pre- production in 2008.

It's possible that Johnny is insulting Elon Musk by pretending he doesn't know his name. According to Christian Carino, Amber was socializing with Musk by this point. Rochelle Hathaway was Johnny's former fling with whom he allegedly had an affair in 2015.

I would like to pause here to unpack a few things. First, Johnny scolds Amber for yelling at his lawyers. She counters by asking why physical violence is more acceptable. He admits to headbutting her (!) but pivots to blame her stubbornness for the mediation going nowhere.

He then says he has wasted his life on her. This is bizarre. He had known her four years, a fraction of his life.

One can assume he says this because he left his family for her and/or because of her DV allegations. But does this make sense?

Johnny has a history of assault. He was valorized by David Letterman in an interview for going after paparazzi with a plank of wood. He joked of the hotel trashing he was arrested for in 1994. So how does a DV allegation ruin him?

There are many celebrities who have been accused of DV without it ruining their lives.
