Sir William Macewen loved animals & used to bring his pet dog Leo, a retriever into work with him 💗 An early example of a #therapet /2
Leo had an inkwell in his collar for Macewen to use during his rounds 🖊😍 /3
One day Leo was stolen 😍 and bought (in good faith) by a lady, who ran a fruit shop, for her sick sister /4
Macewen visited the shop by chance and an excited Leo was delighted to see him. The women wanted to keep Leo. A policeman had to be called to adjudicate😱 /5
Ultimately little Leo trotted off with his master 😍 but the next day, after the poor lady explained how they missed him, Macewen allowed the sisters were allowed to keep Leo /6
Whilst growing up on Bute, Macewen had another dog called Spunkie as well as a cat called Topsie 😍 One day Spunkie had to rescue the young Macewen from an unfortunate encounter with a bull 😬. We will tell you that tale another day /7
