🧵An interesting exchange happened today between admins of two large Russian military expert channels, GREY ZONE and Starshe Eddy, discussing the effect of HIMARS strikes that seem to have started demolishing Russian positions more often than before.
Starshe Eddy posted at 4PM their observations of recent HIMARS strikes saying that Ukrainians became more open to hitting a wider range of facilities, which may be due to an increase in missile supplies for these systems by the USA.
To which the GREY ZONE responded with an admission that HIMARS’ devastating power is far more superior to even the most advanced of the systems that Russia has at disposal (aside from high-precision missiles such as Kalibr which are a class of their own).
They also followed up by saying that Russian missile raid on 24 February was practically useless considering most of Ukrainian personnel was withdrawn from their permanent locations over a day before the invasion began:
Starshe Eddy responded with a short note saying that GREY ZONE misunderstood them and they never intended to minimise the impact of HIMARS, and admitting they’ve experienced a HIMARS strike themselves:
While HIMARS targets largely remain unannounced by the Ukrainian Armed Forces, it is indeed interesting to note how the effectiveness of the system frequently raises discussion in the Russian sources. End of 🧵

Southeast of Chuhiv the Russians attempted to advance in the direction of Skrypai, they are not successful, this is a tactical action of local significance.
This is done as a flanking manoeuvre against a possible Ukrainian offensive that could cut the M03 road. Russian attacks in the Dovhen'ke area. The Russian army cannot advance anywhere. Russians have stopped their attacks on Siversk.

Today is Aviation Day in Ukraine - congratulations to everyone involved in the industry!
In the past day, no changes of the frontline except for minor movements in four directions around Donetsk, with no success for Russians.

The adversary continues accumulation of electronic warfare systems. This may be to cover their own airspace in case of Ukrainian aviation or ground strikes, and to interfere with Ukrainian military command along the Belarus frontline.
Russian volunteer and blogger Murz who has been deeply involved with providing repairs and collecting aid for the so-called “People’s Militia” of the so-called “Donbass Republics” published his view of the results of six months of the special operation 🧵
It is somewhat of a long post but the level of self-awareness (with few exceptions) of Murz is quite striking.
Murz first admits that the most combat-ready Russian forces have mostly been destroyed in the first stages of the war and Russia has no other choice but shell...
to death Ukrainian positions with hope of the latter to retreat. He admits this is an extremely inefficient and tedious process. He also says that the reservist recruitment program in Russia has failed as these units are too fresh to be effective in the battle:
🇷🇺 likely attempted to hit military cargo, but missed due to stupidity and no responsibility for civilian causalities. This is not the first, and unfortunately not the last such event. All 🇺🇦 hits are carefully planned, not emotional.
🇺🇦 retaliation hits (only small part) are: fuel warehouse near Popasna, command post near Kherson.
Shoygu claims that the Russian offensive was cancelled because of "concern for the civilian population". Arestovich brings up the figure of 22,000 Russian strikes, only 500 of which were on military targets.
Today's (24 August) strikes on Ukraine were larger than average but far less than what was expected today. This is due to a combination of factors. firstly, there are too many foreigners in Kyiv such as foreign diplomats.

The enemy continues attempts to establish full control over Donetsk Oblast and hold taken territories in Kherson, parts of Kharkiv, Zaporizhye and Mykolaiv Oblasts, and also replenish units that took losses.
This tells us that the enemy is truly exhausted and we are entering a stage where replenishment of Russian troops is not enough to cover casualties along the whole frontline.
Continued aviation strikes across the whole territory of Ukraine.
