Episode 3 of SDC5 and I'm so !!! about AC and Bouboo getting to be judges today! Love getting the ~masters' thoughts on all these new dancers #legssdc5

One thing about this being my second season watching, I now get that these opening episodes are as much about giving the captains several opportunities to see everyone's skills before they select their teams as it is about the ~competition #legssdc5
I didn't catch that last season (and I don't think Henry did either), but you can tell wyb is assessing everyone for both skill and how they handle their critiques. Also I like that he's pushing people to try things! Like getting Yuki to battle against Dykens #legssdc5
I definitely don't think he expected her to win the battle, but his point about getting people to open up and to do their best speaks volumes about both his attitude toward this and the show's general ethos I think #legssdc5
Do I know enough Chinese to understand what anyone is saying when the subs disappear? No. Does it matter? Not really bc I'm having a blast #legssdc5

Wei Ying who has one photo of his parents from before he was born: the two of them with another couple, both women visibly pregnant (his mother very very pregnant, the other woman showing but not as far along) but all his ba wrote on the back is "Us and the Lans, Utah, Oct. '87"
Jiang Fengmian doesn't know the Lans - WWX has figured out that they must have become friends in the year before he was born when his mom and JFM weren't speaking to each other - and so WWX posts the picture on one of those "find the people in this photo" sites
And he gets a message that says "this is my mom and my uncle"

Is there a time loop fic out there that is Jin Zixuan waking up on the day of Jin Ling's 100 day celebration or do I have to dream this up myself
I really like the idea of Jin Zixuan dying horrifically on repeat while he slowly figures out that everything can be resolved if they just let Jin Guangyao hold the baby
but more realistically: canon proceeds apace, the last thing Jin Zixuan experiences is the feeling of hot blood in his throat as he tumbles to the ground, and then he wakes up gasping with Yanli still in bed beside him

I Don't Go Here, but it's #omegaLWJseason and I can't stop thinking about doesn't-know-he's-pregnant LWJ on the Yiling Date, going into labor after they wake up Wen Ning and are having dinner in the Burial Mounds.
I like this because it combines my favorite things, which are: people (WWX) panicking while someone they love (LWJ) is in distress, other people (WQ, Granny Wen) being very calm and matter-of-fact in the face of that distress,
and also The Political Ramifications of A Twin Jade In Distress In the Burial Mounds, which is absolutely the most important part of this thought.

Thinking about LWJ, age 16, taken hostage in a war that's not even really a war yet, just a skirmish, a testing ground
Thinking about WWX and JC, also age 16, taking about how they'll take on the Wen and be heroes among men.
I just think LWJ thinks about this when he loses his core. WWX will still be able to be the hero he wants to be and LWJ will no longer be useful as a hostage.

Role reversal where it's LWJ who shows up to the Yunmeng lectures without his invitation (Bc he was so nervous he left it at home), and WWX refuses to let this stuffy, stiff boy in, fully expecting him to push back and demand entry
LWJ turns around and immediately heads for the inn where he stayed last night (he'd arrived just before hai shi, and it seemed rude to request entry so late) (Yunmeng, he learns later, doesn't sleep so early and the gates of Lotus Pier are open until almost midnight)
He will return home tomorrow and then salvage what he can of his pride and suffer the loss of face to ask to be let into the lectures late. It will be fine. Embarrassing, but fine.
