Tory Ministers will be alarmed at the extent of potential strike action reflected in the TUC motions:
The country’s biggest unions demand they work closely together to maximise their impact and “win” the fight for inflation-related pay rises. theguardian.com/politics/2022/…
The move, which includes the two biggest unions, Unison and Unite, comes amid growing anger at the government’s failure to agree a detailed package of help for families following Friday’s announcement that average gas and electricity bills are to rise by 80%.
In response to govt plans to cut 91,000 civil service jobs, the First Division Association, representing senior civil servants, is calling on the next prime minister to abandon the “destructive approach of arbitrary job cuts”
The Public and Commercial Services Union calls on the TUC to “support industrial action aimed at preventing job cuts and coordinate such action with other unions in dispute where possible.”
With unrest spreading, the GMB union is set to ballot more than 50,000 school support staff on whether to accept a £1,925 pay rise offered by local government employers. The GMB is also balloting more than 100,000 local government workers over their pay deal.
Even the Royal College of Nursing is preparing to consult its members on whether they would be prepared to take strike action.
Tories still voting for their new leader!
Government sources said the likely winner of the Conservative leadership contest would be ready to hold an emergency budget with measures to help people with energy costs “very soon” after the winner is announced on 5 September.
You'd think, after 12 years in govt, Tories would have rebuilt good policies for all parts of UK; the first priority - to provide security for everyone.
Now they reveal they only get working when events 'happen' to THEM: covid outbreak, brexit fall-out, Russian greed, Trump!
Tories always plead ignorance of what might 'happen'. Instead they cause chaos, with no plans made with those who can deliver them.
Sacking 91,000 civil servants who are not directed efficiently, if at all, because Cummings once said they were not to his liking. Not a Policy.
While Tories have made no good policies to make UK stronger, they made endless unrealistic promises to cover up their failed whims - or those of focus groups.

Tory government is always unstable, unlike Thatcher's it u-turns every week. General strike? #GeneralElection asap
However, Tories will hang on in govt 'because they have a huge majority' in HoC.
They will use the force of laws to ignore the inevitable chaos they caused. The future for UK is bleak in Tory hands.
It's not democracy, it's dictatorship with a smirk. 43.6% dictatorial majority
Sadly, major parties have not supported #ProportionalRepresentation while they were in government. So UK is stuck in the political dark ages while most countries use modern election policies.

First-past-the-post voting keeps useless parties in government; and Tories really are!

The rising cost of energy is a national emergency. Last year, British households collectively spent around £30bn on their energy bills. Next year, that bill is expected to be in the region of £170bn. theguardian.com/commentisfree/…
Millions of people rightly feel betrayed by the government for neglecting to do anything about the looming financial shock. Tory MPs spend all their time on hustings or commenting on those ongoing propaganda dabates from holiday homes. Meanwhile we have a useless redundant pm.
Household sums do not account for the higher energy costs faced elsewhere in the economy, by businesses, hospitals and schools. UK will experience a colossal economic shock, causing untold economic hardship and homelessness and people dying of conditions related to being cold.

Putin did not anticipate 80,000 Russian soldiers dead or wounded. Dying with them is his Peter the Great pipe dream of a “greater Russia”. Extinct already is his reputation as anything other than a killer and a crook. theguardian.com/commentisfree/…
Putin’s efforts to spread fear and instability, disruption and economic pain – making countries think twice about opposing Russia – extend beyond Europe. His vetoes have left the UN security council frozen in time.
Now he and China’s Xi Jinping look set to turn November’s important post-pandemic G20 summit in Bali into a crude west-versus-the-rest showdown over Ukraine. No matter that Russia’s whole argument is based on a lie.

F1 rule change:
The porpoising has been largely eliminated but bouncing remains and drivers spoke out, fearing for the potential ill effects on health. After a particularly brutal weekend at Baku some insisted the problem could not be allowed to continue. theguardian.com/sport/2022/aug…
The FIA reacted with two parts of a new technical directive which come into play this weekend. The measure of jarring which sets a threshold beyond which teams cannot go. And a tightening of the rules on the rigidity of the floor, to prevent ride heights that are too low.
Both Ferrari and Red Bull are believed to have been exploiting a loophole in the rules that allowed an element of flexibility in their floor, while Mercedes did not. Levelling this playing field may peg the leaders back a little.

Tories neglect the people, but support profit-takers:
Confirming an 80% rise in the consumer price cap from October - will take a typical household’s gas and electricity bill to £3,549 a year.
Stark warnings about potentially devastating effects. theguardian.com/money/2022/aug…
Highlighting the damage to *whole sections* of the population, analysts at the Joseph Rowntree Foundation said for example that single parents would be forced to hand over almost two-thirds of their income after housing costs to pay energy bills.
The poorest single adults would see their finances wiped out by “stratospheric” energy bills representing 120% of their income after housing costs, leaving many destitute.

Analysis of Home Office data by #LibDems:
Tory government has sent 3,071 LGBTQ+ asylum seekers back to countries where homosexuality is criminalised since 2017.

pinknews.co.uk/2022/08/25/asy…
There were 415 LGB asylum applications lodged in the UK in 2021, 77 per cent fewer than in 2019. Total asylum applications rose by 36 per cent in the same period.
Over 100 of successful applications for asylum were from LGB people fleeing Pakistan, which criminalises LGBTQ+ people. In Pakistan the maximum penalty is life imprisonment or the death penalty.
Other LGBs granted asylum were from Bangladesh, Nigeria, Iran, Uganda and Iraq.

While dementia is a well-known condition in humans, dogs can experience a similar decline in cognitive function, with symptoms including disrupted sleep, forgetfulness, walking into things, difficulties adapting to change and getting lost. theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2…
Canine cognitive dysfunction (CCD) is more common in older dogs, as is the case in humans:
Writing in the journal Scientific Reports, researchers in the US reported how they analysed data from two surveys completed by the owners of 15,019 dogs, as part of the Dog Aging Project.
Owners were quizzed on aspects of their dogs’ behaviour, as well as factors such as the dog’s age, sex, breed, health and activity levels. The team then assigned each dog a score between 16 and 80, with a score of 50 or higher indicating the dog had CCD.
