This is why @pwneip and I run CTFs. It was the highlight of #DEFCON30 and I'm blown away that I can be involved in his journey. Thanks to @TJ_Null , @offsectraining and @RedTeamVillage_ for making this happen. Here is what they had to say...
@pwnEIP@TJ_Null@offsectraining@RedTeamVillage_ "My son, is a high school senior this year. His high school offers a Computer Science Independent Study course. Students apply for the course by submitting a project proposal at the end of their Junior year."
@pwnEIP@TJ_Null@offsectraining@RedTeamVillage_ "We finally settled on studying for and obtaining his OSCP certification. While the cost of the exam was high (and I agreed to cover), we felt it would make the most impact on his future career in offensive security."
@pwnEIP@TJ_Null@offsectraining@RedTeamVillage_ We used @TJ_Null “The Journey to Try Harder” to target his personal weaknesses & for his learning path. His teacher requires a wkly submittal so that he can track progress. He intends to use TJnull’s @hackthebox_eu VM list and submit a report (practice report writing!) each week
@pwnEIP@TJ_Null@offsectraining@RedTeamVillage_ He is self taught and his teacher knew he had an interest in cybersecurity, he allowed him to join their HS National Cyber League team. In the indv game, he placed in the top 10 out of ~6000 players (HS and collegiate players combined) He had just turned 16! Yes, I’m a proud mom!
