🎉Opportunity to Interview for FT roles
Ok a hiring manager hit me up from one of the apprenticeship programs and said a lot of people had good resumes and barely anything on their LinkedIn or no LinkedIn.
LinkedIn is the land of opportunity. People hire people. They want to know YOU.
Breaking down why this matters🧵
On this space we talked about the power of LinkedIn in not only securing job opportunities but building your brand. Just this week alone multiple FAANG companies reached out to me and even added me on the platform. The opportunities are endless.
While having a resume is great, LinkedIn is a platform that allows you to express your work/personal efforts. What you're learning, what you've done, basically tell your story in a way you can't really do on a 1-2 page resume.
Plus it's LIVE 24/7. Anyone can see it at any time.
I had a chat with one of the companies that restricts apprenticeships to ages 18-26. I asked the reason why and there were two provided:
Gov't restrictions from the funding they receive
Apprenticeship is an alternative to university for those who don't have the same access
Access = funding, ability to commute, family obligations, etc.
Gov't views it as taking an opportunity away from someone who REALLY needed it if they go outside of their requirements.
Similarly with the Google opportunity, if you did the certs beforehand they view it as you had
Access to obtain the credentials whereas others don't have the same level of access so this opportunity should serve those without the privileges of going to college or doing a career certificate.
Having too much prior experience also happens after age 26, which for those >26
