Donald Trump Jr. is promoting the false claim that a violent Jan. 6 rioter who attacked cops at the Capitol — on video — and bragged about the importance of violence — once again, on video — is being held in custody pretrial for “protesting.”
That’s not why he’s being held.

Moments before Trump-loving violent rioters broke through the doors of the Capitol tunnel on Jan. 6, a top Metropolitan Police Department official warned officers it was about to get “old school CDU” (Civil Disturbance Unit), body camera footage just played in court shows.
MPD Officer Abdi, whose body camera recorded that official saying they were not going to lose the Capitol, said he interpreted that comment as meaning they were about to get into hand-to-hand combat.
“You’re gonna hit somebody, you’re gonna get hit,” he said.
