1)The material object:the actual artwork
2)IP rights within the material object:film rights, book rights, etc.
Unless the rights are granted to you. you don’t have rights to license out or monetize the work outside of the first sale 1/
Now NFT’s add an extra layer, which are revolutionary for the space. NFTs ascribe *ownership* of work—it’s not the work itself, nor the rights—much more like an official, indisputable record of ownership + history. 2/
Why is this important? This extra layer can accrue value:
1) The traditional way through licensed IP Rights, or 2) At the token layer, like on a CC0 project.
But there’s a problem. Currently, there is no way or communicable method to assign these tokenized rights. 3/
Communities & projects need a modular tool to be able to associate rights & ownership through their projects.
This is where Greenlit comes in: infrastructure with the ability to assign those rights out both in a traditional way + token layer. 4/
What has surfaced in CC0 & rights debatably lately is that most projects don’t or wrongly convey the assignment of ownership. Greenlit fixes this. Supercharge your IP & Get Greenlit ⚡️🟢

TL;DR 1. Traditional Copyright has 2 layers 2. NFT’s add a 3rd layer 3. NFTs ascribe ownership 4. Value can accrue through Tokens or Rights 5. No good solution currently to solve this 6. Greenlit solves this all - Sign up for the Beta. ⚡️🟢

Here’s another one on why rights management is important.
Blockchain opens a completely new door to IP ownership and distribution that was once controlled by the powers that be. Majority of Hollywood filmmaking decisions come from 4-5 major studios.
Ones where the same old folks are the same people that decide what gets made. Furthermore the folks who are putting blood, sweat & tears into making the art see the least from their labor.
