1/ Our analysts were busy last month!

Let's run through some August 22' report highlights and see if we can find any alpha. 📰 Image
2/ You're probably sick of hearing about it at this point but the Merge is just days away.

For all of our speculatoooors out there, $ETC price has typically been driven by major upgrade news in the past. Image
3/ Centralization came into focus after the @TornadoCash sanctions.

While chokepoints still exist across the infrastructure stack, the Proof of Physical Work token distribution method provided by Web3 infra could be the next catalyst to spark a bull. ImageImage

1/ Born in the wake of @ethereum's 2021 gas wars, alt-layer 1s were created to provide a cheaper and faster user experience.

@klaytn_official was designed for high TPS, low latency, and near-instant finality, with an emphasis on enterprise-level solutions. 🧵
2/ @klaytn_official is composed of three networks:

+Core Cell networks (CCNs) perform consensus

+Endpoint Node Networks (ENNs) connect the CCN with users, applications, and Service Chains

+Service Chains allow apps and enterprises to have their own execution environment
3/ Like many other alt-L1s, @klaytn_official activity did not take off until the second half of 2021.

During this period, Klaytn’s circulating market cap (i.e., network value) also increased to as much as $4.75B, ranking it 40th among all cryptocurrencies.

1/ "Anyone can be a node operator".

With the Merge coinciding with some major @Rocket_Pool improvements, what value could the protocol stand to capture? 🧵
2/ Currently, the major players in @Ethereum staking are @LidoFinance, @Coinbase, @binance, and @krakenfx.

@Rocket_Pool is much smaller than Lido, primarily due to higher fees.

But Rocket Pool’s higher fee supports greater decentralization as anyone can operate a node.
3/ A few key upcoming catalysts are likely to improve both the size of the pie, i.e., the total amount of $ETH staked, and @Rocket_Pool’s share in it.

On the ecosystem front, the Merge and Shanghai Upgrade should serve as major opportunities for all staking providers.

1/ Over the past year $3B has been stolen from DeFi with 2/3 of that total coming from bridges.

For the "multichain future" to survive, these risks must be resolved.

Let's discuss bridges, hacks that have occurred, and how bridges are mitigating risk.
2/ A cross-chain bridge enables the transfer of data, primarily token assets, between blockchains.

A bridge derives security from either the parties that oversee its operation or the underlying chain and the algorithms that operate the bridge.
3/ Bridges are an attractive target for hackers.

All of the previously noted bridge heists fall into one of three categories:

+Backend exploit
+Multi-signature compromise
+Smart contract vulnerability/implementation error
