2) Scientific research and publishing are two fairly centralized practices. Many scientists find themselves inclined to publish on trendy topics, and prioritize frequency over quality, to increase their chance of funding.

3) Against the universality of science, a large amount of scientific data is published in paid journals or kept in private databases. The Open Science movement tried to push for more sharing, but journals responded by charging high fees to publish any research as open source.
