Post-launch talk: more on the Osmosis integration ๐งช๏ธ
New and upcoming: Interchain accounts and the fee split model
The testnet upgrade was promised this week, but weโre taking our time because upgrading is tricky with the Cosmos SDK due to a severe lack of documentation. Thereโs a lot we have to figure out ourselves, but that also means we can apply what we learned to mainnet upgrades
Evmos is creating a full guide for all devs in the Cosmos ecosystem so other chains can also benefit from the work weโre doing around the nuances of upgrading github.com/cosmos/cosmos-โฆ
As a quick summary, in this past weekโs community call we brought you:
๐ง A recap of everything you need to know about relaunch
๐ Exciting things that project teams are bringing to Evmos
๐ธ The Evmos Grants Program
Weโre upgrading the testnet with fixes for launch issues this week and taking the next 1-2 weeks to test thoroughly, giving partners time to test their deployments as well
If all goes well, mainnet will launch about a week after that; likely 2nd week of April
(2/12)
Will the chain reset or continue from the current block height?
The team is conducting data analysis to make an informed decision. Weโll be publishing a report with our findings, as we want the community to follow along with the decision-making process
Hey Everyone, we really appreciate your patience as we work diligently to fix the existing issues with the airdrop claim for ledger + @keplrwallet users. It is not our intention to exclude these users and here's a quick ๐งต on what happened and how we are bringing you a solution๐
First: The Problem
While most all cosmos chains have historically used the same Cosmos key type, Evmos uses the Ethereum key type to stay compatible with the ETH tooling that you know and love (MetaMask, Remix IDE, Truffle, Hardhat, etc.)
This results in a different address being generated than would be generated had Evmos used the Cosmos key type.
Notice how the string <prefix1>dtwarh8... is the same for both Cosmos Hub and Osmosis addresses, but NOT for Evmos? This is the result of using different key types.
