Barriers to cycling in Worcester:
2.56% lack of fitness
7.69% lack of confidence
10.25% hills
12.82% too much to carry
15.38% weather
17.95% quicker by car
17.95% no secure storage
23.8% barriers eg metal gates
33.33% feels unsafe
35.9% aggressive road users
And by far the biggest two:
64.1% volume & speed of motor traffic
82% lack of cycle infrastructure eg cycle lanes
How this could be addressed in Worcester City:
Cycle lanes (build & they will come)
20mph on residential streets @20sPlenty4Worc (we’ve been waiting for the review of 20mph for years)
More #OpClosePass @JohnPaulCampion 35.9% of drivers felt aggressive driving put them off cycling
