Like the north of Ireland only got gay marriage and abortion in 2019, and that’s only because the British government forced it upon us, which it was allowed to do because the DUP shut down our government because they didn’t want to help Irish people learn their native language

Every year, extremely hateful WASP supremacists hold marches to celebrate a military victory 400 years ago on, and around, the 12th of July. They often march through Catholic neighbours to intimidate the residents. And they aren’t afraid to use violence

On the 12th of July they burn bonfires with various flags and symbols of groups they hate. These include Irish flags, Palestinian flags, pride flags, banners and posters put up by political parties, symbols of Catholicism and flags of immigrant communities e.g. Polish flags

But the racism and sectarianism doesn’t just end with a few symbols. They display banners with racial slurs and messages on them. They often show the letters KAT meaning Kill All Taigs. “Taig” is an anti-Irish slur. They also use the word “Fenian” a lot, another anti-Irish slur.

Effigies of individual people have also been burned on these bonfires. These are mostly politicians, but they also burned an effigy of a girl who graduated from University bc she was a victim of a sectarian hate crime when she was a child thecelticstar.com/an-effigy-of-s…

They also put up a lot of flags. It’s very common to see flags of violent terrorist death squads that have murdered and massacred hundreds of Catholics, such as the UVF, along with flags of the Orange Order, a hate group I’ll get into later. But the flags can get worse than that.

On to the Orange Order. They’re a WASP supremacist group that has been around since 1795. A video emerged of them singing a song mocking Michaela McAreavey, a young woman who was murdered on her honey moon in 2011. The reason they celebrated her death is bc she was Catholic

When the Orange Order march for July 12th they often go through Irish communities to intimidate people. That’s what happened in the video shown earlier the the thread. They’re often accompanied by the police who barricade Catholics inside their own homes

Last July, the UDA, another loyalist paramilitary death squad, demanded a bonfire in Larne reach record breaking heights or those building it would face beatings. During the construction of this bonfire a man named John Steele fell 50ft to his death.

A paramilitary terrorist group called the Red Hand Commando placed a wreath in commemoration of Steele. At his funeral, the PSNI were seen saluting as the loyalist’s coffin was carried past. I can’t find any major news organisation reporting these details republican-news.org/current/news/2…

It recently emerged that in 2017, the police defiled the corpse of a Catholic suicide victim, taking pictures of his genitals and posing with the body. They posted the images on WhatsApp, captioned with sectarian comments and slurs. irishmirror.ie/news/irish-new…

In June 2020, a 14yo mixed race Catholic boy was found dead and in a storm drain after being missing for 6 days. The PSNI said he died by drowning and there was no foul play. The police issued a Public Interest Immunity Certificate to keep the public in the dark about this case

During lockdown, the UVF organised a "show of strength" by having scores of masked men march around a loyalist area. The police merely shepherded them and made minimal effort to intervene. They didn't give the same treatment to Irish Catholics breakingnews.ie/ireland/masked…

This takes us to the darkest side of this situation. The loyalist paramilitary death squads. Groups such as the UVF & UDA have deep roots in this country. They have committed countless shootings and bombings of innocent civilians purely because of their religion and ethnicity.

I'm not sure how such rampant hate and persecution could go ignored by so many people across the world, but something needs to change. This thread is a bit long but there's so much more to be talked about, this is literally just the stuff off the top of my head.
