Some of my comments on this case are in the article, but to elaborate:🧵
1. We are disappointed but not surprised with this result. Quite frankly, there is an irreconcilable clash of worldviews in our society right now & that is reflected in this decision.
nationalpost.com/news/canada/gr…
2. A young child (age 6) was told that boys and girls aren't real, and when the teacher allegedly 'clarified' things with the class after the girl's mother raised concerns, she did so by drawing a line on the board, with boys on one end and girls on the other—a gender spectrum.
3. The school board confirmed its policy of "gender fluidity", which it seems to introduce whenever an opening presents itself, such as when a child objects to fitting within a rigid stereotype of what it means to be male or female.
4. As a child of the 70s, I was shocked by how we are going backwards with gender roles. Did you know that a girl might feel the need to cut her hair short so it's okay to like science & play with boys? If you don't look like Barbie, can you be on the "girl" end of the spectrum?
5. Respecting the inherent human dignity of gender diverse people, through inclusion and acceptance, is a very different goal than inculcating into all children the idea that their sex is a fiction or that they must have a gender identity.
6. The former is a laudable goal; the latter, as several of the schoolboard’s own staff admitted, represents a major change in society, the consequences of which have not entirely been thought through.
7. Teachers aren't equipped or licensed to manage or even understand the psychological implications of messing around with identity formation in children.
8. The Tribunal was not bothered by the evidence of the teacher or other school employees, since they all appear to start from the same proposition: that everyone has a gender identity—a subjective, internal feeling—which takes precedence over, or simply elides, biological sex.
9. The evidence, as we saw it, suggested that schools are veering off the laudable path of inclusion, anti-bullying & acceptance, toward indoctrination & the undermining of material reality.
10. My clients asked for 'guardrails'—policies to ensure we do not end up causing more harm than good by keeping school boards on that laudable path.

But first the problem needs to be acknowledged, and that didn't happen in this case.
11. I was pleased to assume carriage of this file when I joined @JCCFCanada & they generously continued funding it when I left. It is important that we, as a society, wrestle with these issues & have difficult conversations. That's how we find the best path forward for everyone.
12. For more on this from @PamelaNBuffone, the mom of this child, who has been an inspiration in her tireless care and advocacy for families harmed by gender ideology, read here: genderreport.ca/tribunal-avoid…

A year ago today, scores of vaccinated people spread Covid-19 to each other at several events on Cape Cod, proving that the mRNA vaccines don't stop onward transmission & that the vaxxed carry comparable viral loads. By July 30, even the CDC admitted this. cnbc.com/2021/07/30/cdc…
This was ignored by virtually all institutions, which soon mandated the jab for youth sports, universities, employment & travel. Passports were required for restaurants, gyms, events & shops, creating a 2-tiered society. People were coerced into the vax. Some were harmed or died.
There are still people today who are barred from their careers, including doctors & nurses. Hubris, along with a complex intertwining of morality with the jab, have meant that many organizations & gov'ts refuse to walk back their policies, while some threaten to bring them back.

Our population is divided, possibly beyond repair. We don't just disagree, we live in completely separate & irreconcilable realities. We have different facts, different science, different media, different narratives, different values. We view each other as distorted caricatures.
When we engage primarily online, our echo chambers keep us apart. But the truckers inserted their messy, physical, salt-of-the-earth reality into the urbane pseudo-reality that holds all cultural & political power. For a brief moment, the power balance shifted to team reality.
Repressive tolerance is the operating system of the cultural elite. They cannot and will not tolerate this incursion, this infringement of *their* freedom to not have to engage with those whose temperament or life circumstances place them squarely on team reality.

Re-upping this thread I wrote in May of 2020. I've been speaking out about lockdowns and the broader impacts to society since the very beginning. Sadly, I think my concerns then were justified.
Another pertinent thread from about 10 months ago:

Watch for a rush to the exits, as journalists, scientists & politicians throw the nearest guy under the bus & try to pretend they were never in favour of lockdowns. It will happen in the UK first, where there are still the remnants of a culture of debate & verbal sparring.
It will pick up steam elsewhere too, as the latest hysteria becomes impossible to reconcile with the facts on the ground & serious inquiry finally begins. Here's a taste in Canada, soon to be in the 'mainstream' rags too:
Those who said from Day 1 that lockdowns weren't justified on the evidence, or noted that harms outweighed benefits, or expressed reasonable & well-informed concerns about mandating vaccines, were censored & vilified. I welcome any turnabout but lament that it has taken so long.

Things seem to be in complete chaos in this province, as fears of Omicron relieve our decision makers & managerial class of their senses (what’s left of them). Here are 10 policy suggestions for @fordnation to keep the wheels on & bring the chaos to heel before the next election:
i) Provide home test kits to ease minds & recommend that people isolate themselves if positive. Otherwise, stop testing asymptomatic people, and stop recording cases. They are untethered from hospitalizations and deaths (that’s a good thing) and we need to stop focusing on them.
ii) Stop contact tracing. Everyone is going to get this, & for virtually everyone it will be mild. People should stay home with symptoms, but otherwise carry on with their lives. If you isolate everyone exposed, no one will be at work and critical infrastructure will be at risk.

I've been contacted by many specialist physicians who are about to lose hospital privileges because of these mandates. Their reasons for not complying are unique, informed & rational, but virtually no exemptions are being granted. Mandates WON'T make them change their minds. 1/5
These doctors will leave their hospitals, maybe even their careers & very likely the country. There are friendly US states that pay doctors better anyway, & don't require the jab in order to work.

Another brain drain is about to ensue. 2/5
The mandates don't make logical sense anyway, for a vaccine that does not stop transmission, that is likely only effective for about six months & has considerable risks, known and unknown. And all for a virus that is manageable for about 99% of the working age population. 3/5
