Since 2015, the Domestic and Sexual Violence Response Team metamorphosed to Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency has commemorated the Domestic and Sexual Violence Awareness Month,
which has traditionally been in the month of September, to coincide with the month the Team was established in 2014.
The theme of this year’s activities is “IT’S ON US”. This is based on the compelling need to ensure that residents of Lagos realize that ending the menace of Sexual Gender-Based Violence
is indeed a collective effort which requires the support and collaboration of all members of society.
The above are the activities set out for the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Awareness Month in September, 2022.
1. The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency received a complaint bordering on an allegation of Sexual Assault by Penetration, Indecent Treatment of a Child and Defilement, allegedly perpetrated by one
Dr. F. Olaleye on the 19th of March 2022. This was made via our toll free line.
2. As is customary, the case was immediately referred to the designated Police Station in this instance being Gender Desk department of the Lagos police command.
The child had already received medical support and
was in the process of receiving psychosocial support.
3. DSVA has requested the police to forward the duplicate case file to the Directorate of Public Prosecutions so that legal advise can be issued.
