1. Was Bajrang Dal wrong in preventing the #Brahmastra crew?

Many wise folks have made it clear that it is in the rights of the temple authorities to allow or not allow certain folks from entering the temple premises. This thread is about where Bajrang Dal comes into it.
2. To add a salient point about temples: most temple Agamas recommend a charya, a lifestyle, a routine, which has to be followed not just by the temple archakas, but also the temple visitors or temple devotees. Those who are sure not to follow it, can’t be allowed inside.
3. This is because the temple is not a museum. It houses a certain deity who, just like an individual, has certain characteristics. These characteristics won’t ‘appear’, and temple won’t be alive, until all the rituals and charyas associated with that form of deity are followed.
4. As the deity has some characteristics, just like an individual, he also has rights and has the complete adhikara to allow or prevent individuals from entering the premises. This fact is lost only upon those who think of deities as simple ‘idols of stone’ and nothing more.
5. Since Ranbeer Kapoor is a known beef eater, and Alia Bhatt is a member of RoP, they have no right to enter the temple at all. But some folks are miffed over, ‘but what about Ayan?’ ‘How can we be sure Ayan eats beef?’
6. We cannot be, and that is precisely why they were all prevented. Protests are about what the crowds do to prevent the unthinkable, which is to let a beef eater reach Nandi and Śiva. They did what they had to and if someone was collateral damage it was okay.
7. We all know this temple visiting spree is to sell tickets and nothing more and the entire crew of the movie is completely deracinated. In that case, just crying over ‘we can’t be sure about Ayan’ is a non-starter. That logic should allow many Christians too to enter.
8. Whether Bajrang Dal had authority or not is a different issue. They functioned outside the temple, in society, to prevent what they thought was wrong with very very very active support of all of Hindu population.
9. I know the region and many of the residents outside the temple personally. They are all with Bajrang Dal in this. And are willing to go against political parties to prevent beef eaters from entering the temple. Bajrang Dal is representing a public wish.
10. When you put out blanket bans to prevent the unthinkable from happening there are always some who fall on the wrong side of the divide, but it is the only way you can enact a rule otherwise anything goes. Any bickering over BD is just a refusal to see the real problem.

1. How Malik Kafur Destroyed Hindu Temples and Hindu Society

Malik Kafur was a young Hindu boy from Gujarat, who was captured and converted to Islam in an Islamic raid on Gujarat in 1298 by the generals of Alauddin Khilji. This neo-convert destroyed thousands of Hindu temples. Image
2. The exploits of Kafur are recorded by none other than Amir Khusrau. Alauddin Khilji was infatuated by Kafur because he was very handsome & this led to quick ascension of Kafur in the Khilji court. He became the topmost officer of the empire and was given the title Malik Naib. Image
3. IN 1310-1311 CE Kafur led one of the most devastating Islamic invasions of the south. Countless millions of Hindu temples were destroyed, Hindu women, children and innocents massacred. Devagiri, the capital of the Yadavas was once again destroyed. Image

1. Temple Heritage of India – Ramakrishna Kongalla @artist_rama

Just received this much awaited gem from friend, artist and great scholar Ramakrishna Kongalla.

He comes from tradition and it can be seen not just in his work but in his very personality. Image
2. He is one of the most knowledgeable folks writing on the wonder that is the Hindu temple and yet he does it with such great ease it is elevating. The tradition that he talks about affects his personality ever so humbly.
3. He has turned education about tourism into a window into the Hindu temple, something which no one had been able to do it before him. To rightly place all about Yatra in Teertha is what Artist Rama has done. And one can only be grateful to him.

1. Jalasangvi - a small hamlet in northernmost district of Karnataka - Bidar. Most of the population in surrounding area is that of peacefuls. The district itself has a heavy population of them. Most people speak Hindi in Deccani dialect. And yet it has a strange beauty to it.
2. This area once used to be the core area of the great Chalukyas, Rashtrakutas and also the Yadavas of Devagiri. It was the area which gave birth to many building techniques and architectural styles of the Hindu temple.
3. But it was also the playground of the Deccani Islamic kingdoms which destroyed thousands of Hindu temples in the area. Most of the great capitals of these great kingdoms like Devagiri of Yadavas, and Manyakheta of Chalukyas were reduced to wasteland.

@TwitterSupport This is to appeal an unfair warning of 'sensitive content' on my account. New users get this warning when they encounter my account.
Pictures in my tweets are marked 'sensitive content' when all I am sharing is pics of temples, architecture and art, like in this thread.

Still the warning is like this:

2. The view of the main temple of the trikuta and the view of the beautiful hamlet of Belavadi from the left vimana housing the vigraha of Venugopala.
3. The largest open mandapa of all Hoysala temples with 108 lathe-turned pillars, none similar. It connects the two lateral shrines of Venugopala and Yoga Narasimha.

For me, the most awaited book of the year arrived a few days ago, when friend and brilliant author @6amiji sent me the copy of her book: Ramayana Unveiled.

It is for me, the most important book of the year, because of special reasons. Image
Every since I was a child, the legend of Rama would mesmerize me so completely it was impossible to read, watch or listen to his story without having tears in my eyes. His story was so relatable.
He was an obedient son who just wanted to obey his father and be just.

He was an obedient student who wanted to serve his guru.

He was a loving husband who wanted to protect his love.

He was a caring brother, and friend who just wouldn't let these relationships go.
