The sister of Robert Packer — the Jan. 6 rioter wearing a "CAMP AUSCHWITZ" sweatshirt when he stormed the U.S. Capitol — is asking a judge to show leniency, writing that it is "easy to judge a book by it’s cover."
She concedes his sweatshirt "could be considered in poor taste."
"Keith and I have had many conversations about Jan 6. We were all there together that day. I left early as the weather was just too cold for me," she writes.
DOJ is seeking 75 days of incarceration when Robert Keith Packer is sentenced on Thursday.
His lawyer writes that he faced "quite significant" harassment, "mostly because of the nature of the offensive shirt he was wearing."
"Brian Jackson used a hand symbol that is sometimes associated with white supremacy... coupled with Brian Jackson’s history and other statements in relation to January 6, that evidence indicates that he was espousing white supremacist views on January 6."
"The classified records are government property over which the Executive Branch has control and in which Plaintiff has no cognizable property interest."
