We have spent 70 years operating nuclear reactors around the world and they have the best safety record of all power generation in the history of mankind.
2/ Less than 100 people have been killed because of nuclear power.
All the statistics and studies after the accidents show “expected deaths” from cancers.
One problem…
3/ None the “expected deaths” have come to pass.
There has been no increases in the cancer rates of the populations surrounding Chernobyl, Fukushima or Harrisburg.
But there are some cancers where there seemed to be increased number such as thyroid cancer.
4/ Turns out that when you seek out specific types of cancers you will find it before it becomes a problem and can treat it earlier.
The fear of nuclear is because it shares its name with the most powerful of weapons.
5/ The world of anti-nuclear groups spread lies and propaganda to perpetuate this fear.
Ground Zero would protest the base my first two submarines were moored.
We carried the most powerful weapons the world has experienced.
6/ Ground Zero’s literature was about the nuclear reactor in Connecticut and how big of an explosion it could cause if is fuel was suddenly transformed into a nuclear weapon and detonated.
This defies the laws of physics and all common sense.
7/ Now compare the safety of nuclear (100 deaths in 70 years) to wind and solar.
The UK has 14 people per year falling off of wind turbines to their deaths.
Rooftop death from falls in the US have gone up 35% since we started subsidizing rooftop solar panels.
8/ A coal boiler in New York killed hundreds of people in the 1920s.
In 2020 a natural gas explosion destroyed a mall in Florida.
All energy production comes with risk.
Nuclear Power is the only power source where risk is unacceptable.
