Shafted. An example: Scots having one of the highest energy costs in Europe. Which apart from anyone else - is enough to scare off companies wanting to invest in Scotland. #YesScots
Shafted: another exaple is Scotland being pulled out the EU against our will! Shafted by Westminster. #YesScots
Shafted. For example, decades of oil and gas wealth flowing into Westminsters coffers; and hiding those profits from Scottish citizens. I would describe that as criminal behaviour.
Shafted. Like the 300 years of 'union' that has led to the decline in Scotlands population. In 1707 Scotland's population made up about 20% of the 'union'. Today it stands at around 8% and continues to decline.
Shafted. Like Scotlands top jobs being advertised in London and filled by English incommers or Anglophone Scots. Only this year, for the very first time in history the Director of the Edinburgh Festival was filled by a Scot: Nicola Benedetti. Shafted.
Just two of nineteen Scottish universitie have a Scottish principle; less than 25% of academics are Scottish.
Shafted.

Shafted. Like having no modern ports (i.e., ports that can accommodate modern container traffic) that would allow Scotland to trade directly with other countries. Instead Scotlands trade goes through England; with Brexit problems that now comes with. Shafted! #YesScots
Shafted! Like tax take that flows into Westminster's coffers from the £13Billion Scottish food and drink industry. Scotch Whisky alone in 2019 that was worth £4.91 billion.
Shafted. Like Scotlands farms and Scotlands hospitality industry being unable to get staff due to Brexit. In 2021 it is estimated that there was a shortage of 48,000 hospitality workers.
Shafted. Like Westminster blocking Scotland's progress on renewable energy. Westminster has cut investment in Scottish renewable development and prioritised nuclear power plants in England.
Peterhead Carbon Capture project promised to Scotland but given to Liverpool. Shafted!
Shafted. International trade is a reserved power, which means the UK government has exclusive responsibility for signing new trade deals.
English MPs with English prioriites control Scotland's trade policy.
1 Unfortunately there is still a wrong-headed belief that Scotland is 'owned by' or is a 'colony of' England and therefore Westminster has to give permission for Scotland to become independent. This is not the case - the relationship between Scotland & England is a treaty.
2 Scots themselves can make the choice to disolve that treaty; it is a unilateral decision and not dependent on any permission for the other sigantory of the treaty. Scot law was not subsumed within English law and neither is it overwritten by English law.
3 English law can't be used to make a Scottish vote ratified by Scots law illegal.
