1/ With the Merge hours away, there are a lot of questions about what exchanges will be doing.
Here’s a list that may help you navigate this exciting moment in crypto’s history.
But keep in mind, the information below may change rapidly. Each exchange should be consulted.
2/ Binance plans to suspend deposits and withdrawals on September 15th at 00:30 UTC for ETH/ERC-20. Support for forked tokens will be evaluated. If there is a forked token, it will be credited at a 1:1 ratio.
3/ OKEX plans to alert users before the Merge of when it will suspend ETH/ERC-20s. OKEX will track the price of PoS ETH during the Merge. If there is an airdrop, users will receive ETHW at a 1:1 ratio with their ETH balance at the time of the Merge.
4/ FTX is focused on supporting continuous trading and doesn’t plan to halt or settle ETH futures prior to the Merge. ETH futures and perpetual contracts will track the price of PoS Ethereum after the Merge.
5/ Coinbase plans to suspend ETH/ERC-20 deposits and withdrawals a few hours before the Merge as a precautionary measure. There shouldn’t be any impact to trading ETH or ERC-20 tokens across Coinbase’s centralized products
6/ Kucoin plans to suspend deposits and withdrawals for ETH/ERC-20s on September 14th at 15:51 UTC. At the moment, Kucoin will decide to list forked tokens based on user opinions and compliance with security standards that ensure the safety of users’ assets.
7/ Bybit plans to suspend deposits and withdrawals for ETH/ERC-20s a few hours before the Merge. Bybit will track the price of PoS ETH and follow standard settlement and delivery procedures. ETHW will be supported if it’s cleared by its risk management and security teams.
8/ Gate.io plans to suspend deposits and withdrawals for ETH/ERC-20s on September 15th at 00:00 AM UTC. Gate.io users can swap their ETH for ETHS and ETHW before the Merge at a 1:1 ratio, or redeem them for ETH if the hard fork fails.
9/ Kraken states that it doesn’t guarantee that an ETHW fork would be listed on its exchange.
10/ Bitfinex plans to suspend deposits and withdrawals for ETH/ERC-20s two hours before the Merge. If there is an ETHW airdrop, users will be eligible.
11/ Four hours before the Merge, Bitfinex will pause trading and cancel orders for all ETHW and ETHS pairs.
If there is an ETH fork, borrowers will have to pay back the difference for the forked tokens.
12/ Gemini plans to suspend deposits and withdrawals 1-2 hours before the Merge and is unlikely to support an ETHPOW fork.
13/ Ascendex plans to suspend deposits and withdrawals on September 15th for ETH/ERC-20. They will be reopened post-Merge when the network is deemed stable. If there is an ETHPOW fork, it will be supported by Ascendex and distributed to holders at a 1:1 ratio, if any.
14/ Deribit plans to credit users with forked tokens if the value of the forked token is larger than 0.25% of ETH PoS and the new chain is operating under normal circumstances.
15/ ETHW would only be credited to Deribit users for withdrawal purposes on a 1:1 basis. Settlement will only occur on the main chain for options.
.@jump_ is excited to be a part of the @InjectiveLabs funding round to support the growth of its interoperable blockchain and growing ecosystem of financial dApps.
Injective's blockchain is optimized for DeFi applications and institutions alike with plug-and-play modules (on-chain order book, binary options, derivatives, etc.) that developers can use to build sophisticated financial dApps easily. 2/5
In just the past few months, Injective has witnessed major growth with 91M+ transactions and over $7.2B in cumulative volume across its dApps. Injective’s automated smart contracts have also helped to create the most active Cosmos IBC zone. 3/5
Without a deeper focus on security, it is inevitable that more exploits and losses will occur.
For that reason, bridges need to be configured to work securely under the worst conditions. 2/9
With that in mind, we dive into how security stacks up across the different bridges along three axes: trust assumptions, code quality assurance, and safety features. 3/9
1/ Custody – Why it matters and what are the options?
2/ Any asset in web3 needs to be custodied (real word) somewhere.
In other words, there's a private key (or group of private keys), that has control over access to funds.
3/ Anyone with access to private keys can move funds. So if that key is compromised, funds can very quickly be permanently lost. There are many compelling options that can be used to minimize risks.
1/ The calm of crypto winter brings its own advantages.
Among them is the chance for builders to build sustainable tokenomics, and move away from 8000% APYs, non-productive lockups, and other models designed only for the short term.
We explain how…
2/ Tokenomics, of course, covers all sorts of topics — initial supply, treasury size, etc. But today we're focused on defining two core principles and building the right framework.
3/ The first core principle: provide common goods. Good tokenomics should solve collective action problems, organizing and incentivizing its participants to provide services that could not be provided from individual behavior.
1/ Over the last few weeks, we at Jump Crypto have been studying the UST depegging and have three key observations.
2/ First, the episode was triggered by a combination of trades in the UST/3CRV pool during a seventy-five minute window on Saturday, May 7.
3/ These trades involved TFL withdrawing UST liquidity, and two wallets putting large UST sell orders through the pool, upsetting the pool’s balance and depth.
Today, we’re studying financial returns for new tokens. After all, this is one way in which crypto is special: low barriers for someone to access new launches.
In particular, we want to understand: are markets for new crypto tokens efficient or not? Are there systematic and predictable returns in the historical data?
Surprisingly, markets are pretty efficient!
We construct two independent databases of new token returns to combat survivorship biases, and measure returns from the perspective of a mainstream Bitcoin holder.
