Also present on the occasion are MoS @mppchaudhary, Revenue Secy Shri Tarun Bajaj and @cbic_india Chairman Shri Vivek Johri amongst other dignitaries

FM @nsitharaman lit the inaugural lamp of the function.

The FM will shortly inaugurate the ‘Kendriya GST Parisar’, a residential project for officers & staff of CGST Mumbai Zone under @cbic_india, at Kharghar, Navi Mumbai today

Earlier, FM @nsitharaman, accompanied by MoS @mppchaudhary and senior @FinMinIndia and @cbic_india officers, went around ‘Kendriya GST Parisar’, the new spacious residential project for officers & Staff of CGST Mumbai Zone, located at a most preferred location in Navi Mumbai

Principal Chief Commissioner, CGST Mumbai Zone Ashok Kumar Mehta, in his welcome address, stated:

There are 187 dwelling units in the Kendriya GST Parisar, built at a cost of Rs. 110 crores and completed in record time of 14 months, with saving of nearly Rs. 10 crores.

CGST Mumbai Zone, the highest revenue collecting zone in the country, had collected more than Rs. 1,18,000 crores in the last fiscal.

Rs. 11,000 crore of tax evasion detected by zone in last 12 months.

Chairman of @cbic_india Vivek Johri presented a sapling to FM @nsitharaman, in presence of Revenue Secy Tarun Bajaj at the inaugural function of ‘Kendriya GST Parisar’ at Kharghar, Navi Mumbai;

while Member, CBIC Sungita Sharma welcomed MoS (Finance) @mppchaudhary with a sapling

FM @nsitharaman inaugurated the ‘Kendriya GST Parisar’ at Kharghar, Navi Mumbai, by unveiling the plaque;

in presence of MoS (Finance) @mppchaudhary, Revenue Secretary Tarun Bajaj, @cbic_india Chairman Vivek Johri and other dignitaries and senior CBIC officials

FM @nsitharaman ceremonially handed over the keys of 'Kendriya GST Parisar' flats to five officers of different ranks and cadres.

It is very important to take care of our officers, specially in terms of their accomodation, if we want good productivity from them. It is in that context that I have been emphasising, for the last year and a half, to clear all such projects: Revenue Secy Tarun Bajaj

Generally project cost increases in the process of implementation. But, I would like to thank the team engaged in the 'Kendriya GST Parisar' project for being able to complete it within Rs 100 cr., although Rs 110 cr. was allocated for this project: MoS @mppchaudhary

It gives me immense satisfaction to be in places like this where projects for welfare of our field formations are taken up and completed. Today is a rare occasion when a project is completed within time and cost, without compromising quality, keeping future in mind: @nsitharaman

Govt./Quasi-govt organizations had in earlier times been looked at with a sense of uncertainty; but this is example of @OfficialNBCC, even during the pandemic is exemplary and proves that govt. organisations can excel and compete with the private sector as well: FM @nsitharaman

We need to better utilize AI, data and IoT and other technologies to identify fraudulent practices; we need to give training to officers on these aspects, such as detection of tax evasion: FM @nsitharaman
