Lots of concern on my TL about the cost of fuel, #Wizileaks debt and corruption. Here's a thread with content from @AfUncensored that may help explain the situation Kenya is in: Image
Four years ago in August, @DavidNdii and I had a series of very prescient conversations worth revisiting today in their entirety. Here's one to start with: #WiziLeaks
@mtemi_kumalija , the @AfUncensored team and I thought to make a series about money which we called #THAO, given how costs kept going up. Episode 5 picks it up where Ndii leaves off (the series is in sheng but has english subtitles):
Many have pointed (and rightly so) to the impact that procurement led corruption has on KE. We produced a series on the same called #Captured . One of the episodes focused on theft of funds via the portable clinics initiative. Some familiar names in here:
So, what to do? Former DG in Kenya's National Debt Management Office Wohorro Ndoho walked me through things Kenyans ought to focus on as we enter a new political dispensation: former Director-General in the National Debt Management Office #TheBigPictureKE
Finally, the folks at #ThesituationRoom @SpiceFMKE graciously brought me on to talk about #WiziLeaks. We spent the better part of the hour breaking down the impact of corruption on Kenya over the past 3 administrations. Want to learn more? Here you go: wizileaks.africauncensored.online/#/methodology
@pigafirimbi @LindaNgari also bringing the facts on whether Kenya may go the Sri Lanka way. + 2 minute video but well worth the watch:

Uhuru Kenyatta's reign came to an end today. His regime compares very poorly against all others since 1978 in terms of corruption. Here's a thread that should get you thinking: #Wizileaks
The numbers are based on public information, curated from credible news sites and other platforms, but they do tell a story, especially if you look at the number of public scandals reported in the Kenyatta regime vis a vis Moi and Kibaki #Wizileaks

A thread/request to Kenyans: if you want to really know which candidates will win in the August election, then you need to be part of tens of thousands of Kenyans who volunteer to share results from your polling station. Here's why:
The media won't do it. To get results from the polling station requires upwards of 52,000 people who will share results once posted by returning officers at the polling station. No single media house that I am aware of has that capacity internally or the money to do it alone...
So far, none have decided to work together to do this (the most obvious solution, but for legitimate and illegitimate reasons, not feasible SO FAR). This can change, of course, but we have fewer than 70 days to the election.

While we have your attention, here's a THREAD on some of our other money-related investigations:
1. #CAPTURED - This series was also based on a leak of documents, but from IFMIS. We looked into the role of enablers of tendepreneurs, found a SENATOR & MP owning companies with very strange activity, and looked into the Managed Equipment Leasing Scheme:
2. Kenya Airways: Fall of the Pride - as the name suggests, this series was based on the turn in the fortunes of Kenya Airways, chronicling the impact that Project Mawingu, and other questionable decisions had on the Pride of Africa's difficulties:

@KTNNews promised to publish #TheProfiteers tonight. They will not. WE, @afuncensored ,WILL. A THREAD.
Let me start by saying that I have profound respect for many of the journalists and editors at @KTNNews. So it was indeed a shock when I learnt earlier today that @KTNNews decided not to run the story as promised and promoted. #TheProfiteers
They were largely happy with the story, but wanted to remove certain parts of it as they sought comment from an adversely mentioned person. We disagreed, given that we had already sought fair comment from this person. @KTNNews #TheProfiteers
