1. Some 6,000 people turned up for the #KeretapiSarong22 flash mob event, held in conjunction with Malaysia Day today.
This is compared to a crowd of about 4,000 in 2019.
According to organisers LOCCO, the event had returned from a two-year hiatus after the pandemic.
2. "Keretapi Sarong 2022 was organised to cultivate awareness and encourage higher usage of public transportation, aside from celebrating and preserving the Sarong as traditional fashion and culture," LOCCO says.
3. The sarong-clad participants moved together from several train stations to the final location of Pavilion Bukit Bintang.
The event also featured cultural games and sing-alongs at 8 stations, and ended with a joget lambak dance at Pavilion.
3. In conjunction with Keretapi Sarong 22, ERL also offered discounts of up to 50% for return tickets from Putrajaya to KL Sentral, while RapidKL offered the DailyPass for those using the LRT and MRT.

1. Batu Kawan MP Kasthuri Patto has urged KPWKM Minister Rina Harun to use her position to appoint more child protection officers, instead of lamenting about the problem.
“Just get it done, Rina. You have the power to do so,” Kasthuri says.
2. “As a minister in the Cabinet, Rina need not lament for brownie points on what she ought to do instead of actually rolling up her sleeves and doing it,” Kasthuri says.
"Like all Malaysians, I don’t wish to read statements by the ministers on what should be done."
3. “Instead, I want to see statements of them actually doing it and getting it done,” the DAP MP says.
Rina's earlier statement did not reveal the steps the ministry planned to take to address the issue.
2. "Whilst we welcome a probe into the matter, the question is whether it is proper for the police to probe matters in which they themselves are said to be involved," Gobind said.
He also questioned if there was a delay due to conflict in the internal investigation.
3. "It is also important to note that PDRM has already denied the allegation even before the probe was completed.
"Would there not in these circumstances be a conflict on part of PDRM to probe the matter?" Gobind adds.
1. According to USM's National Poison Centre, the number of poisoning cases due to vape exposure has risen since 2015 when vape was made commercially available.
The youngest patient reported to the centre was three months old.
2. Most of the cases involving children were due to them accidentally drinking vape liquids that were left in easy to reach areas.
NPC says six poisoning cases were reported in 2019, which rose to 13 in 2020 and 21 in 2021.
3. A total of seven cases have been reported up to August this year, including a 10-month-old baby.
Pharmacist Sulastri Samsudin says the various flavours of vape are among the reasons children become attracted to try them.
1. Parti Bangsa Malaysia women’s wing chief Daroyah Alwi is urging MOHE to study the prevalence of HIV among tertiary students in Malaysia, supposedly due to same-sex relationships.
She says the ministry should establish a task force to study this in more detail.
2. This was in response to statements made by family health practitioner Dr Sakinah Sulong, who was reported by Sinar Harian saying that the majority of HIV patients who contracted HIV through same-sex relationships were higher education students.
2. This includes the delays in the passing of the Anti-Party Hopping and Generational End-Game bills, which Fann says were caused by the bills being tabled without the necessary consultations.
He says he does not know of any civil society organisations that have been consulted.
3. Fann expects “quite a bit of debate” from MPs and questions from civil society when the bill is tabled.
“There is a high probability it will be referred to a parliamentary select committee for fine-tuning and feedback before it is tabled again,” he says.
