if your argument is “AI will take jobs from creatives,” you have already made a capitalist zero-sum assumption
a writer is still a writer when they are not writing. an artist is still an artist when they are not making art. focusing solely on output mischaracterizes and misunderstands the entire process. typical of capitalism to focus on tangible capital at the expense of people

in the early 2000s it was “digital art isn’t real art” (what does digital do? eliminates need for large studio space, eliminates constant need to replenish expensive supplies, makes sharing art faithfully to the work a lot easier, tutorials are easier to follow with same tools)
nowadays it’s “AI is gonna take out jobs” or “AI art isn’t real art and it’s cheating even if humans paint over it” and I’m just like… do y’all think photomanipulation isn’t real art either, even though CGI is what powers every damn movie these days

when people focus on making things proprietary & having trade secrets as a way to secure their position in a space, all that reveals to me is that they are actually replaceable; if the only thing that distinguishes you is an object that anyone could acquire, you’re not special
the way to secure your position in a space, imo, is to freely share your knowledge & thereby prove that you’re indispensable, bc it’s your experience & expertise that make you stand out, and people having all the access to your tools and yet not being you is proof of concept
a good teacher is absolutely irreplaceable. but hey, the US abysmally devalues teachers too, so I’m not surprised USians don’t understand this basic shit
