Llwyddiant aruthrol i’n hymgyrch #DimTroiAllanHebFai 🎉
Heddiw, dechreuodd Llywodraeth Cymru ymgynghoriad ar ymestyn y cyfnod rhybudd sy’n ofynnol drwy’r Ddeddf Rhentu Cartrefi (Cymru) 0 2 fis i 6 mis. 🧵
Rydym wedi gweld drwy ein gwaith achos pa mor ddinistriol yw’r cyfnod rhybudd presennol i denantiaid – y realiti o geisio dod o hyd i gartref arall dros gyfnod mor fyr o amser a’r effaith mae hyn yn ei gael ar iechyd meddwl a chyllideb pobl.
Mae troi allan heb fai dal yn cyfrif am ganran sylweddol o’n gwaith achos, a rydym mor falch y bydd pobl o bosibl yn cael mwy o amser i ddod o hyd i gartef newydd a ddim yn cael eu gwthio i ddigartrefedd.
Mae’r ymgynghoriad yn cynnig na fydd hyn yn dod i rym tan Mehefin 1af 2023 – 6 mis ar ôl i Ddeddf Rhentu Cartrefi (Cymru) gael ei gweithredu. Mae’r oedi hwn yn fater pryder mawr i ni a dylai ddigwydd ar Rhagfyr 1af 2022 i sicrhau na welwn don fawr o #troiallan.

We are calling on the @WelshGovernment to ban evictions this winter as an emergency measure.
During the pandemic we saw the Welsh Government acting decisively to support tenants and tackle homelessness. We now need a package of measures that matches the scale of the crisis we’re now facing.
The evictions ban worked very well during the pandemic as an emergency measure. Also, it’s worth pointing out that countries such as France have an evictions ban every winter in order to stop people becoming street homeless during cold weather.

Rydym yn galw ar @WelshGovernment i wahardd troi allan y gaeaf hwn fel mesur brys.
Yn ystod y pandemig gwelsom Llywodraeth Cymru yn gweithredu’n bendant i gefnogi tenantiaid a mynd i’r afael â digartrefedd. Rydym nawr am weld pecyn o fesurau sy’n ymateb i maint yr argyfwng sydd nawr yn ein wynebu.
Gweithiodd y gwaharddiad troi allan yn dda yn ystod y pandemig fel mesur brys. Hefyd, mae’n werth nodi bod gwledydd fel Ffrainc yn gweithredu gwaharddiad ar droi allan bob gaeaf er mwyn rhwystro pobl rhag dod yn ddigartref ar y stryd yn ystod y tywydd oer.

Huge success for our #EndNoFaultEvictions campaign 🎉

We asked @WelshGovernment to extend #eviction notice periods to 6 months for people with pre-existing tenancies – and they are listening. 🧵
Today Welsh Government began a consultation on extending the minimum notice period required by the Renting Homes (Wales) Act from 2 months to 6 months.

gov.wales/written-statem…
We have seen from our casework how traumatic the existing notice period can be for tenants – the realities of just how hard it can be to find an alternative home over just a short period of time and the impact this can have on their mental health and finances.
