I was the soul participant within a protest against inappropriate teacher conduct at #Oakville Trafalgar High School (OTHS), this is my side of the event. 🧵
For those not in the clue about the situation, a trans shop teacher at OTHS in Oakville, Ontario, Canada was recently shown to of worn a pair of large fake silicone breast during his instructions. (Picture is NSFW)
As someone who formerly attend OTHS and took shop every single year I was appalled that local administrators at #Halton District School Board (#HDSB) and at #OTHS approved of such behavior and were planning to use police resources to secure the school against peaceful protest.
I also discussed the matter with former students/friends of mine and some of their siblings who are within the school currently. I had many voice to me there concern and feelings of being uncomfortable around the teacher and even had one student cry to me over the phone.
I also had some students tell me that they feared facing academic consequences as a results of speaking out against the matter.
So on the morning of the 19th I went with my Canadian flag and a speaker/megaphone to peacefully protest. I had a lot of people and students come up to me and thank me in support and for speaking out when they couldn't and no one else would.
However, halfway into my protest a journalist from the #TorontoSun came up to me and continuously pressed me for multiple minutes about what my name was and why I was here even though I was willing to talk about the matter but not share my name due to personal privacy.
Funnily enough he himself did not identify himself and eventually his colleague appeared to keep on pressing me about what my name was. I caught a photo of each of the journalist (these photos can also be used for verification to prove I am who I say I am).
After that I was approached by @RebelNewsOnline reporter @TheMenzoid who interviewed me for a short while. The video was on The Rebel's YouTube page yet it has been private for awhile due to quote, "HDSB not correcting misinformation" as per the word of Mr. Menzies.
At the end the day the whole ordeal was very productive and I had a lot of good, productive conversations with people.
I must clarify however that I believe my personal beliefs on the matter of transsexuality were not accordingly expressed in any media publications online and I would like to take a moment to explain my rationality.
As some who is currently studying Psychology scientists know that gender dysphoria is when one has a profound unease concerning there gender identity.
We also know that those that exhibit this dysphoria usually have neuro-chemical imbalances. Which is a indication of mental disorder within an individual. sciencedirect.com/science/articl…
To me when one affirms the anxiety and dysphoria of those suffering from this disorder that is actually worse than conceding that the individual should try and get psychiatric help and treatment through medication.
We as a society do not affirm the delusions of reality faced by those with psychosis nor the emotional outburst of those with bipolar disorder so why innately should gender dysphoria be any different?
The issue really stems down to the politicization of the matter. You cannot even criticize the phenomena without being labelled some sort of "bigot" even when you are not one.
The politicization of the matter also leads to the fact that when you critique the identity as a concept those that associate with it believe the critique to be of the individual and therefore have a hard time looking at the phenomena from a neutral point of view.
However, this extreme example of this dysphoria also overlaps with a obvious note of a extreme idealization and compulsion to satiate a fetish (possibly Autogynephilia) which takes the whole phenomena to another league of it's own.
This is really what I have an issue with, this kind of behavior should not be tolerated and is not appropriate at all within any school period.
At the end of the day I hope this teacher is able to eventually manage his disorder and autogynephilic tendencies but for now this individual should not be a educator.
Please share this thread with your loved ones and friends and if you liked it drop a like, retweet or a follow. I would love to use this opportunity to open up the conversation on this matter.
What do you think? Do you approve or disapprove of the decision that the school and local council made?
P.s. I apologize for not being the most technology savvy person as I don't really have any social medias I use and just created this account to get my side of the story out there.
