From @twaweza_uganda 's recent data on businesses and taxation, these facts emerged clearly

1. 45% of the respondents said they had owned a business in the last three years, 24% of those said their business had since collapsed

2. 32% of the surviving businesses were largely agricultural business

3. 5 out of 10 of those whose businesses collapsed blamed the collapse on a lack of capital

#SautiUG

4. 4% of them put down aggrseive or high taxes as the reason they closed their business

#SautiUG

4. Amongst the biggest problems faced by businesses in Uganda, 17% say aggressive taxes, levies and penalties are a major concern #SautiUG

6. 7% of the people who say doing business is hard in Uganda say so because of the tax regime they encounter

7. 64% of the people who diligently pay their taxes say that they do so to get improved service delivery from government
