🧵High Holidays Reading.

There’s a lot of shul coming up and some people have trouble focusing throughout.

I’m going to share some reading recommendations and encourage others to please add their own!
I really try not to over do it but around this time of year I like to remind that I actually wrote a book about sin that features a lot of High Holidays/Teshuva themes.

I’m proud of the work and would be ever grateful if you took the time to read.

My fondest memories as a child was getting antsy in shul and my mother showing me little stories or meaningful paragraphs in the machzor.

Make sure you have a great machzor.

I like the standard @artscroll. Great opening essay. Rabbi Sacks Machzor from @korenpublishers is great.

If you’re interested in Kabbalah, Christian Hebraists, American History, Jewish history—there’s something on here for you.

Well written. Easy read. Was able to finish from beginning to end. Fascinating throughout.
Book begins with Thomas Jefferson’s search for the essence of Jewish wisdom. Like many Christians, he thought it had been corrupted.

Hope to learn more about this when I read the book I got on the Jefferson Bible. Seems fascinating.

I remember as a kid the ole’ + sign vs cross debate.

Always came up with Swiss army merchandise.

Personally I was always lenient and was annoyed when some made a big deal about it but on a profile pic it did give a very “I have accepted Jesus” vibe.
